Unusual gushing during af (sorry tmi)

Well the witch got me last night (cd31) Not a heavy flow at all until this evening I walked to our local shop and back (maybe 1/2 mile at most) and came back very soggy. I had completely saturated a regular pad (fresh on half and hour before), through my knickers and trousers When I wiped there was a large clot, about the side of a golf ball and in the following hour lots more smaller clots. What on earth is going on? I've had heavy periods and the likes esp with my coil but nothing so sudden and alarming. It's settled down now but it's given me a bit of a fright. Any ideas?

Might be worth mentioning to your doctor next visit or if it happens again.

Thanks Cazza, I really try and stay away from the GP, lets hope it's not the reason for me to make the next appointment. OH is definately a bit on the worried side now.
