For the last week or two, Jax has been really crying and is very unsettled for about the first hour of going to bed.

He has his dinner around 5pm (1 ice cube of home made puree plus some finger foods), then he has a bath and I take him into his bedroom for his milk at about 6pm. He is really relaxed having his milk and usually falls asleep/is very sleepy and dozy in my arms and I lay him down in his bed and put on his light and music show and he goes off to sleep, 9 times out of 10, no problem. He sleeps soundly (I'm assuming as we don't hear him) for about 30 mins, then he'll suddenly start screaming histerically. I can go into his room, sing softly and rub his tummy gently (to let him know I'm there) and he'll go back off to sleep within a minute or two no problem. However, we may need to do this 5-10 times over the next 30-60 minutes. He's always crying with his eyes closed so I figured he is tired and not waking properly. It seems to have coinsided with him weaning - do you think he could be getting tummy ache? Or teeth, although he doesn't have red cheeks?

Any ideas as to how I can stop this? Its horrible to listen to and is fine when I'm home as I can settle him no problem but last night I went to step aerobics and got home at 8.20pm and dh said he'd pretty much been crying the whole time I was gone. Dh said he tried just rubbing his tummy but ended up having to pick him up and rock him and then had to lay him on our bed. I work on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and I don't want to be worrying about whether or not my poor baby is constantly screaming while I'm gone. Do you think it could just be a seperation thing although hes completely fine with me leaving him with other people and leaving the room etc?

Didn't want to read and run, but I'm not sure really so can't b much help! Does he have problems after other meals with sleep? Main something like gripe water would help? Or maybe its just a phase! Babies r such a mystery at times! Hope he improves for u hun x

No not really, although I struggle to keep him asleep in his cot during the day anyway tbh!

He did start on antibiotics w weeks ago for impetigo which was giving him a really gurggly tummy, I could feel it when I was holding him. He stopped taking them on Monday so maybe that will help settle things?

I'm having the exact same thing except Stanley goes to bed fine but does this fussing thing at 1-2am :(

I've heard that during this stage they go through the start of aria ration anxiety and that its just a developmental stage! A painful one at that lol but I feel for you him! Feels Luke Stanley hasn't slept for weeks!!!! :( xx

Charlie used to do this, and eventually it just went, I used to go in just pop hid dummy in, and sit by his cot, as if I picked him up or anything he would wake up properly...sounds horrible when you hear it on the monitor and I used to think it was him picking up on my stress. If you do think its his teeth maybe just put a bit of teething gel on his gums? Or maybe calpol one night before bed and if he doesn't do it maybe it is some sort of ache or pain xx
