I just read a post on here about not wearing underwired bras while pregnant.

I hadnt realised this before. I always wear underwired bras - cos i dont feel supported in the ones without. My bra's are still comfy at the moment, and dont really wanna go out and by new ones if ma size is just gonna change again - especially as im an awkward size to get in the first place (32E).

any advice ladies??

xx

I'm still wearing underwired bras hun. So long as they fit comfortably and aren't too tight around your boobs they're ok. you can buy underwired maternity bras after all xx

I'm having 'bra problems' at the moment... not sure what to do. I always wear underwired as I don't feel non-wired support me enough. I have gone up a cup size already, but am reluctant to spend loads of money on good bras if I am going to change again in the next few weeks / months. I have just the one that I am living in at the moment - washing and drying overnight!

I'm thinking it's too early to get fitted for a maternity bra at just 10 weeks - I did try one on in M&S last week, but it didn't fit at all well, and was non-wired. HeppiBean, didn't know you could get underwired maternity bras - where did you get yours from?

Marks nd Sparks sell them but I dont actually have one, I'm wearing my normal bras still (boobs havent grown at all) xx

I'm also a 32E and we have the same due date and I was just wondering the same thing. I am still wearing my normal underwired bras and they still feel comfortable enough but I am definately filling out the cup more so I'm not sure if I just go up a size or if a should look at maternity bras. It does seem a bit early.

I was in maternity bras from 8 weeks, my boobs got huge all of a sudden, was a 34E to begin with, and they ballooned within weeks, found underwires very uncomfortable. I got two bras from Debenhams, one to wash, one to wear. They've done me well so far, and thankfully I haven't had to size up again (although am now on last back setting).

If you're comfortable that's what matters. I have a friend who successfully breastfed all of her children and stayed in underwired bras throughout. Personally, I found wires started digging in, even in larger sizes, and found the non wired bras were and are still very supportive as they were properly fitted.

I was in my normal underwired bra's (size 38 B) until about 3 weeks ago then I went into Mothercare for a measuring and I'm apparantly now a 40 E!!!! I knew my normal ones felt a bit tight but it was still a shock!!

I have 'treated' myself to 1 maternity bra that is non wired and fits perfect, its got quite stiff cups if you know what I mean and so it feels quite supportive even without the wire, I am not sure of what type it is tho as the woman in Mothercare picked it out for me, I'll see if I can find it on their website because it is really comfy and supportive. *edit* I think it is this one http://www.mothercare.com/M2b-Mater...=sr_1_7&nodeId=44320031&sr=1-7&qid=1311339129 only I have it in black, the cups are completely smooth and padded with foam making them firm and hides any rogue poking out nipples so can be worn under tightish tops! it is also a nice silky material.

I am relying on just the one bra for the next 9 weeks then I will stop using that and go out and buy a few feeding bras/nursing bra's and use them.

I found that once you get beyond 32DD the best place to go is more specialised places like Bravissimo. Even if you don't like their unwired maternity bras, they will have heaps of comfy underwired ones in larger sizes.

PS - I consider you all lucky by the way! I've gone up from a 32DD to a 34G,.. so I can forget shopping in normal shops like M&S as I've found that most of the styles they do just don't go up to G or have ridicuously thin straps that really cut into your shoulders :(

I found that sports bras were amazing in my first pregnancy and never stopped wearing them only problem is its not easy to breastfeed with them on

I too have been having bra nightmares! I was originally a 32G but by 12 weeks pregnant i had gone up a back size and 2 cup sizes to a 34H!! It's a nightmare, my choice is even more limited than before. Plus my 34H bras are now feeling a bit snug so no doubt i will be a J soon
There's no way that i could wear a non wired bra, they just don't offer me any support. So i will probably continue to wear wired ones throught the pregnancy. My midwife said that as long as they fit you properly and don't dig in they should be fine. xxx

Wow - thanks everyone. Thats great to hear that wearing underwire isnt really a problem - i had a wee panic there. lol.

I'm still fairlly comfy in most of my bras - although - OH did comment the other night that it looked like i was falling out of one!! - trust him to notice. lol.

I'll maybe take a trip in past M&S and see what they say, seeing as they are usually pretty good.

Hi all!

I really wasnt keen on the non underwired maternity bras either due to being a 34E when i got pregnant!

My back size has increased quite alot due to a bit of extra weight so i got some bra extenders from anne summers. They have a pack of 3 for £5 and they have come in very useful and saved me a lot of money buying lots of new bras.

I was also told that tshirt bras can be a good buy for a bt of extra comfort however struggled to get these in my size.

As long as your comfy i wouldn't worry too much!

Good luck!

im dreading this, cant say mine have grown yet but being a 38 F normally i dont wanna have to go hunting for bigger lol, hard enough to find the ones i wear now.

I'm dreading having to buy a new bra once this one doesn't fit, its rare i get a bargain, I'm currently a 34GG, there is no way i could get away without an under-wired bra!! :O:O:O:O

*out
