Does anyone know why you are not supposed to wear wired bras when your pg? My boobs need that wire to stay of my tummy! Can anyone recommend a good non wired bra that actually provides support? I've yet to find one. I'm 32FF so popping to Asdas for a cheapy is out of the question unfortunately. I've not needed to get a new one yet, but the boys are starting to peak over the top and I'm acquiring that oh so attractive 2 pairs of boobs look :shakehead:

I actually went to see a professional bra fitter regarding this, she fits and sells bras for a living and travels worldwide teaching people how to fit bras! Because I am bigger busted, she advised me to stay in underwired bras - to be honest I had tried wearing non wired ones and they were causing more harm than good!

SO as long as you have a good and well fitted under-wired bra you will be fine.........Im still in under-wired bras now :D

That's great news!!!! :cheer: I've been struggling to find an underwired one that provides the same support as my wired ones. I can't find any reason not to wear an underwired bra, you're told not to wear them but no one has said why yet. I thought it might damage something.

Oh good, I can go back to my usual bra shop once I start growing!! Thanks for that.

Sorry I should have said if you are wearing ill-fitting under-wired bras they can cause problems with your milk ducts!!

Hence why I said you should have regular fitting throughout your pregnancy as your boobs and back size will change along the way!

I stayed in underwired bras all the way through my pregnancy and it never caused any problems. Like you I couldn't wear non wired as my boobs would have been sitting on my bump. Once Chloe was born I wore non wired breast feeding bras in the house but still continued to wear my normal bras when I went out.

I got a maternity bra yesterday and was told underwired bras were bad. I was telling mum last night and she asked why. She made one of those groaning noises when I said I didn't think to ask and just took it as gospel.

So my new bra is 38GG with no wiring. There's no support at all and to top it all off, the rash that is under my boobs must have been caused by sweat as my bra is a bit damp and smelly after only 8 hours and a shower this morning. TMI? Well maybe it is but I don't know how I'm going to be able to stay fresh and have support for the next 6 months.

Ahhh Yummymummy  You poor thing. I'm only a 32FF and my boobs laugh at the sight of a non wired bra! :)

That's one of the reasons I like my underwired bra as the lift them away from my body, I've found ones without a wire only make them sag slightly less.

Maybe tell your midwife next time you see her. Surely a well fitted wired bra which keeps you comfortable is better than a well fitted wireless one that gives you a rash?

I was looking on the net and found this http://www.askbaby.com/is-it-safe-to-we ... egancy.htm apparently a good underwired maternity bra has a softer wire and causes less damage. Surely they wouldn't sell them if they were that bad for you?

When I got fitted at good old M&S I always went for underwired (I'm 34 E/F) on quite a slim frame, so again I need the wire to lift the boobie bags away to let my skin breathe.

They fitted me for a padded bra - something I'd never considered as I'm quite large anyway and I Have to admit they are probably the most comfortable things I've worn.

Still wearing them now - alternating between that and my maternity bra already (only 8.5 weeks!!!)
