'Underweight' and weaning

The paediatrician we saw earlier in the week recommended starting to wean Isla at the end of the month (she'll be 18 weeks) to try and help her gain some weight.

I know there's lots of different opinions about when to start weaning etc but has anyone else weaned an 'underweight' baby 'early'? I thought it was not ideal to wean them if they are on the lighter side...??

Sorry am no help at all really are you bfing? If you are maybe you could seek advise froma bfing counsellor about this (they are fab) - that's if you've not done so already. Good luck hon
