Umbilical cord

Hi

Sorry if this is a daft question but Evie is 1 week old today and I've just changed her nappy and noticed that her little cord is literally just hanging on. It isn't affecting her but it does look red and sore.

Is it too early for it to be dropping off? I always try to avoid it when putting the nappy on etc but it does seem to have been rubbing a bit although she hasn't had any problems.

Is this normal?

Adam's fell off on day 4. It was the same, just hanging by a tiny thread. The mw looked at it the same day and said it would fall off by it's self later in the bath which it did.

We were so relieved when it was off. Hope this helps.
