Ultrasound done - now terrified

I'm sorry you're going through this.

I'm glad you will have the opportunity to discuss things properly. I had a hysteroscopy recently so they could remove a polyp. I had it under a general anaesthetic but the procedure could have been done as an outpatient if I had preferred. The surgeon did recommend a general in my case due to the size and location of the polyp so I would be guided by them. You will need a pre op assessment if you have a general but not if it's an outpatient. I hope that's helpful. Hope it all goes well for you.

Thank you MoominGirl. Did you have any bleeding/pain with your polyp? I am clinging onto the fact that I don't have symptoms so hopefully its not serious. How were you after the hysteroscopy? Waiting and not knowing what i'm dealing with is just awful

Just rang them. She said its likely to be a consultation to discuss next step and if they can do anything else. They will discuss procedure with me then it will take place on a different date soon after initial appointment. So waiting game. Xx
That's good that you get a chance to talk to someone. xx

I had a hysteroscopy whilst awake and was fine. In and out of hospital within an hour xx

thank you Lisey, guess I cant second guess what they will do. only another week to find out xx

I had no symptoms whatsoever. They kept asking me if I bled between periods but no. I wouldn't have suspected a thing if it wasn't for the scan. Obviously I can only tell you about my experience but as I had it under a general, it really was a breeze. When I was reviewed afterwards, the surgeon actually said you don't look like someone who's just been in surgery lol!! I took the day off the following day only because of the anaesthetic but I felt really well. Having a general was the right thing in my case but if they had recommended it as an outpatient, I would have done that. I would definitely be guided by them but also tell them how you feel about anything they suggest. My surgeon would have done it as an outpatient if I'd pushed for it.

You really should have been provided more info. Is there a med sec number on the letter you could call and ask for more detail for the appt? Or a doc you can phone ......the last thing you need right now is to be worrying over your appt because of lack of information they have provided. Good luck and keep up updated. We are all here for you x

Update! Feel better now saw the consultant he said there is a 'shadow' on my womb which is solid. Not sure how a shadow can be solid but he didnt seem concerned. He said i need mri scan rather than hysteroscopy at this stage. I told him my gp wanted to skip mri as in her opinion it would result it hysteroscopy anyway but he said that procedure isnt nice and may not be required. He said he isnt concerned. He did smear as im due one and said visually everything looks ok. I have to see him again in 4 weeks once ive had mri. My question now though, there is obvs something there so after the mri will they know if its harmless and just leave it if its nothing to be concerned about? Or will they remove it anyway in which case isnt hysteroscopy required to remove? Got 1st appointment with fertility clinic on tuesday no doubt more poking about then! Feel less anxious now. And least he did a smear as i would have put that off if it wasnt a here and now sort of thing!

An MRI may tell them it's harmless...I know they can tell with cysts as I had an MRI for that. Have they done a blood test?

Sunflower i didnt have blood test today but had full bloods and day 3 and 21 bloods in november which were fine apart from fsh level high xx

I think if they were really concerned they would do a blood test - they can tell by blood test if something dangerous is indicated.

I am seriously doubting the medical profession at the moment. Everytime i go i get told something different!! The fertility clinic told me this thing on my womb was calcium. Had mri had smear. (Hospital sent my smear results to my old address even though my current address is on file!!!) So i was stressing i hadnt had results after 4 weeks. Went to see consultant today he said smear completely normal. Visually cervix is normal. But they are sending me for a colposcopy now :-( in his words "to cover themselves" so basically i feel like they dont think its anything serious but havent got a bloody clue what it is so sending me for every procedure going just in case!!! Seriously fed up of hospitals. All this stress is not good for TTC wish they would all get their story straight!! Ggggrrrrrr rant over

I had same problem with hospital using an old address. There are certain procedures which they have to do, boxes they have to tick. At least they are being thorough. Good luck! x

Honestly though i bet after all this there is nothing wrong with me. I know my own body. I have lost faith in them all. Even fertility clinic just seems to just want my money to do ivf with donor eggs. Tubes are fine, i ovulate on my own every month. yes amh is low but im 43 so i figure i have as much chance as any other 43 year old. So stuff them all i will continue with vitamins to try to improve egg quality and make the best of what i have. If all else fails i think we might look at adoption. I am putting this womb thing to the bottom of my worries as i have spent 3 months worrying with silly drs contradicting themselves all the time and stressing me out! Hope you are ok Sunflower xx

Doesn't sound like they've handled it very well! What's AMH? Sounds like a plan...if you are ovulating that's great! Always good to look at adoption. I'm expecting AF in three days...not expecting to be pregnant as it never happens. Glad it sounds like there's nothing wrong with you. x

Aww fingers crossed! It could be your month!!
Sorry not sure if you are asking what amh is or what my level is so sorry if you already know what it is....It is a marker for ovarian egg reserve and is assessed via an AMH blood test. Normal AMH levels*(1.5 to 4.0 ng/ml) are associated with increased fertility and better response rates to fertility treatments.Low–Normal AMH levels*(1.0 to 1.5 ng/ml) are associated with decreased ovarian reserve but chances can still be good for pregnancy outcomes.Very low AMH levels*(below .5 ng/ml) suggest diminished ovarian reserve and fertility concerns.
My level is 1.3 so not great but hopefully not impossible.
I am just so frustrated that no one is telling me the same thing and today i thought gynae would discharge me but no.. more blumming tests. I know they are just double checking but ive had 3 months of poking, proding, waiting and worry. I can understand sending me for colposcopy if my smear was abnormal. But it wasnt! X

That's annoying. They literally have to tick boxes - otherwise they are liable. I know it's hard not to worry. Hope it all gets done soon.

I didn't know what AMH meant. Sounds like you still have a pretty good chance! Good luck! xx

It doesn't sound like they are overly concerned but it is good they are investigating.
I noticed you wrote the AMH results in ng/ml where's the levels in UK are usually measured in pmol. My levels were 2 which would be Ok ish in ng, but terrible in pmol (for a 30 year old) xx

This shows ranges in pmol according to age xx

Oh... those levels above were just something i copied off the internet for sunflower. The clinic said my level was 1.3 so by your link that is really bad? Does that mean i have no eggs at all? I didnt ask what measurement it was i assumed it was all the same :-(
