Hi!

Hoping someone can help me here and give me some advice!

My partner and I have decided to try for a baby. I have been on the mini pill Micronor for around 2 years. I stopped taking the pill on March 20th, so it's been 8 days that I haven't been taking my pill for now.

Yesterday I started taking Seven Seas Trying For A Baby tablets (28 day packet), and today my partner is going to start taking Seven Seas Complete Multivitamin Adult. I've read so many reviews on Seven Seas Trying For A Baby in the last couple of days and all of the reviews I have read have said that they work really well. Every single review I read said that they didn't even finish the first pack of 28 tablets before they fell pregnant! What I am wondering though is none of the reviews mentioned that they were taking the pill beforehand and how long after they stopped the pill they became pregnant. So I'm just wondering really how long it's going to take compared to all those ladies who stated they fell pregnant within the first month.

Not too sure how long it takes for the lining of your uterus to thin after stopping the pill either as obviously the pill thickens your uterus so that sperm cannot penetrate through. So how long would it take for it to thin enough for sperm to penetrate through...?

My partner and I are anxious and so beyond excited to start a family and so we are not wanting to wait a really long time. I guess I'm just concerned as to how long it's going to take for my uterus to thin enough to become pregnant. I'm unsure if any of the ladies who reviewed the Seven Seas tablet had just come off their pill or if they weren't on anything for a while... None of them mentioned anything like that so it's hard to know if I'd be in the same boat as those in terms of conceiving early like they did.

Hoping someone can help and give some advice as to what I can expect I suppose..

Any help is much appreciated x

I am sorry, i don't mean to be rude, but no one wants it to take a long time to get pregnant.. i think you should spend some time on here and have a read of some other ladies stories. Some have been trying an awful long time, and although you haven't meant to be, it could come across slightly insensitive?

I would avoid buying into the brands, such as your seven seas etc. or at least spending mega money on certain products. My friend is a Midwife, and she said £10 vitamins are no better than £1 vitamins, so try not to get caught up in the hype.

With regards to the pill, i think most women are different. i have a friend who came off the pill and never had another period, and others who have tried for 9 months to get pregnant, other its took years. Obviously coming off the Pill isn't the only reason, but it can take some time to come out of your system. My only advice is to be patient, unfortunately there is no controlling getting pregnant like you can not getting pregnant. Maybe invest in some Ovulation strips. it could help you identify your ovulation/ fertility window. i opted for One Step ovulation strips, it's only my first month using them so i cant tell you how they worked out but maybe worth a try. Only £5-6 a pack of 50, so you can test multiple times a day. Unlike clearblue or other branded versions, which obviously due to price you will only use sparingly.

I don't see how that is sensitive considering you just agreed no one wants to wait a long time.

Forums are a place to come for advice and to let your feelings out in connection with people who are going through the same thing. Not to be told you're insensitive for doing so...

Many thanks for the advice, though.

Hi Marie

There's no way really to know how long it'll take your body to go back to business as usual post pill. It could take one cycle or more, it varies from woman to woman. I recommend using opks as well to try and pinpoint Ov. As far as the seven seas pills go I think maybe those ladies are just lucky as the vits are just supplements to support Normal reproductive function. Fingers crossed you're not waiting too long. Good luck!

Hey, many thanks for your advice! :)

Not to be too informative but... My partner and I have intercourse every single day... So I kind of feel like personally using ovulation tests would be pointless for me? Because my purpose of using them would be to see when I am ovulating so that I can have intercourse with my partner at that specific time... But if we are doing that already, then I kind of feel like it would not be worth it.

What do you think? What's your opinion? :x

Hi Mariexo,

I have read so many different stories of people coming off the pill - some actually do get pregnant a month or two after stopping, others it takes longer. I guess every body is different! My friend was off the pill 9 months before conceiving but I know another friend who said she conceived the second month!

I am off the pill myself since October but we used condoms until January so we are early on in the TTC stages (hopefully not for much longer :-)). The first month without any contraception my head was melted with phantom symptoms in the 2 week wait and AF was late a few days, so it was disappointing and can be a bit of an impatient journey for a lot of people.

However taking pre-conception vitamins cant do any harm at all and I've heard the 7 seas ones are great, they arent overly expensive either. I was taking pregnacare but it made my cycles longer so I'm not taking them anymore, just folic acid and Vitamin B12.

It would be useful to track when you ovulate or if you ovulate. Because my cycles have been a little longer I think I have missed ovulation or perhaps not ovulating, so I have bought OPKS to check for this month.

The whole process can really be about getting to know your own body, especially when coming off the pill because it can take a while for your body to adjust to its natural cycle.

Baby dust to all! x

Hey there, many thanks for your advice and wonderful tips!
As I said in my previous post, I'm really contemplating whether spending money on ovulation tests is worth it or not... Simply because my partner and I have intercourse daily so I feel like it would not make a difference to pinpoint when I am in my highest peak because I'd of had sex anyway.. If that makes sense? Trying not to be too informative but of course being new to this I have questions and concerns..

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it is worth me spending money on ovulation tests to pinpoint when I am ovulating so that I can have intercourse even though I have intercourse on the daily anyway? Feel like it's pointless but not sure :eh:

Thanks again, good luck with your ttc, fingers crossed for you hun xx

Yes, if you're having sex daily then you dont necessarily need know when ovulation is!! I wish I had the energy for it everyday lol.

You could give it a month or two and see what happens.....if nothing is happening (hopefully it does though :-)) then you can buy OPKS to give you an idea.....I got a pack of 10 for £1.99 from ebay. x

Yeah I thought the same
Just thought it'd be kind of pointless and a waste of money for me to take it for that purpose when I'm already doing that anyway... Hehehe.

I've seen that they sell for cheap from places like Amazon and eBay but it concerns me as to whether they work as well as Clearblue ones for instance? X

Yeah possibly opks aren't really worth it for you then! I'd maybe do a bit of research on dtd every day. There's some research to suggest this doesn't give his swimmers a chance to replenish effectively if they're sent to battle every day! If you're literally doing it every day of your cycle I'd maybe ease off a bit and ramp it up again towards the middle of your cycle/ov. Cheap opks work just as well as expensive ones, they just don't come with all the bells and whistles.

I was just reading on the internet and came across this quote......

"Strangely enough, doctors now recommend that sex be had every day during the ovulation period, which is the opposite of what they used to recommend! The experts say that “frequent ejaculation improves the quality of sperm by reducing the length of time they are exposed to potentially damaging molecules called reactive oxygen species in the testicular ducts.” Whatever that means! Apparently now having sex every day improves sperm quality!"

Hmmm!
Think I may continue with my every day/every other day routine and see where it takes us...

I apologised in advance, and said you MAY come across insensitive to some. Not that you are intending to be.. I think it just comes across a bit naive and as you say you've no idea whats in store for you yet. Hope you don't have to wait a really long time as you say..

Oh thats interesting because I read in a few places what candy said recommending not DTD every day. There is so much conflicting information out there!
I have been thinking of trying to DTD every day for about 10 days over the fertile window, I might just attempt it after reading that Maria lol.
x

Is that just from another forum etc? If they're referring to the study I think they are then that one wasn't conclusive as it didn't follow up on whether the women got pregnant. NICE guidelines say to do it 2-3 times a week. That being said, do what's right for you. Just remember that sperm can live inside of you for up to 5 days so chances are there'll be some waiting if you don't make it every day (I'd be exhausted!)

See my last response loveandpeace. Also have a google of SMEP which is a cover all and worked for me with my LB!

the 'one step' ones from Amazon are the ones used by the NHS. I've opted for them this month as i didn't get a visit from AF and needed to track my OV, theyre only £5-6 for 50 strips x

I have also heard that doing it every day doesn't give enough sperm build up. They say every 2-3 days, followed by daily intercourse over the ovulation period x

Just reading SMEP method now, first I heard of it! Thanks so much Candy! Thats really useful. It recommends every other day.

Yes Carly I think I have been getting my ovulation timings wrong or possible not ovulating at all (though hopefully I AM!) so I'll see how I get on with these 10 OPKS and IF I need more I will look into those ones you recommended :-)

According to my app I have been calculating OV a week early so I've found the OPK strips useful in that sense x
