Hi

Joined today after spending hours constantly googling, thought may be nice to actually see if anyone has the problems I do.

Hubby is 36 and had a VR Apr2010 (9 years after Vasectomy). He has a 16 year old son and 10 year old daughter).

I'm 33, never had a child, always had a pretty regular cycle (apart from coming off the pill 6 years ago, took my body 2 years to get back to 28 day cycle).

Hubby had two post-op sperm sample test, count 20 million, motility 55%, but sperm contained anti-bodies.

We have been ttc since the op (although had a death in the family and hubby spent a stint working away), so even though its 16 months post-op, we've probably ttc around 7 "goes".

I have had basic tests at GP's to ensure everything is ok and in working order (including 21 day post-ovulation test), all fine.

I am overweight, so I know that is something I need to address, but GP said not to stress out too much about that as it doesn't really make a huge difference.

I bought vits/minerals to take but am terrible at remembering to do it and so I have decided from tomorrow I will carry them with me and make sure I take them everyday (Agnus Castus, Vitamin B, Vitamin D, and a Womens Health MultiVit (which has the suggested amount of Folic Acid in).

We are making sure we make love at the "right time" (every other day from days 7 to 14), I also did an Ovulation Test last month for the first time and found that I ovulated bang on day 14. But NOTHING is happening and I'm now at the point where I know we need to start considering other options.

Problem is, we're not in a financial position to pay for IVF and I know we won't get it on the NHS.

Just wanted to share my experience/see if anyone else out that is having/had this situation with a success/not.....any ideas, advice, tips greatly appreciated.

Its something I can't really discuss with anyone else as they either have kids already or don't want them so as much as they try, they're not very good at relating!!! Aaaargh!!!

I have a friend who had a vasectomy reversal last year and his new wife is now 14 weeks pregnant... it can be done hun xx have faith xx

Your hubby's count is similar to mine, not great but certainly not awful, we have very low morphology which is out major sticking point. I have him on zita west vitamen vitamins (similar to wellman conception), extra vit c and pycnogenol all which hopefully will help improve his sperm and he's reduced caffeine, alcohol etc. As far as we know I'm ok. We have a child so won't get any nhs funding either. I wonder if you're stopping dtd too soon as cycles can vary and some months you might not actually ovulate til cd16 (even if you get a positive opk cd14) and could be missing your best day or two to catch the egg. Good luck! X

Just realised there was a typo, the Op was Apr 2012 (ie just over a year ago)!

Thanks Dee28, I've been speaking to people who say they ovulated early so I've been going for the early route rather than the late!

Well, its Day 17 of Cycle today so maybe give it one more attempt tonight !

But, will see what Day 28 brings.

I am optimistic that one day we will have a child together. I am just thinking of the long term future as we do want more than one and age + £ isn't on our side so I just hope and prey for a natural conceptions.

Also, what does everyone think of Agnus Castus? I was told it was the "herbal" alternative to Chlomid??

Any other hints and tips for me nad hubby greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Ladies and Good Luck in all your journies too xxx

Hi there, Hubby had a VR in march 4 years after having the vasectomy.
We have been together for 17 years and had the vasectomy after when I was pregnant with our 4 th child.
Worst mistake ever.
He hasn't had a semen tested yet, we can get it don't where he had the VR (included in the price) but it is around 4 hours away and with hubby's work it's hard to get around to doing it.
I have scoped and seen live sperm under the scope.
Did your gp sort a semen test out? Did you have to pay?
Hope you don't mind the questions.

I take agnus castus, have done for 5 months continuously now and the last three months I've had the most regular cycle I've ever had and think its down to AC. Hasn't helped with period pains but has reduced my pre period spotting a smidge. It's totally worth a try if you have any cycle irregularities/pcos etc. SOY isoflavones is the natures clomid, lots of threads on it in ttc xx

Hi
Don't mind the questions at all. We paid for an all incl package which did include the semen analysis test.

He had one done 3 months after the op, and another done 6 months post-op. The sprem count had gone up slightly but hte ones living had reduced so not much change overall.

I have just been to my GP this morning (changed surgeries so this was first appt at new one), explained ttc 18 months. Also took letter showing OH sperm test results. Straight away the GP said "that will be the problem" and pointed at the letter.

I was really upset and wish OH was with me but didn't think this was going to happen!!

He has booked me in for all types of blood tests next week, told me to lose weight and that if I haven't conceived by April 2014 (2 years post op), then he will refer me to fertility specialists. He also said we will need to pay (which I knew anyway, although god knows how we are going to afford that)!.

Aaargh, I'm so downbeat now. Have had to come straight into work so not even spoken to OH re; the above as he is at work...in the meantime its just eating away at me all day :rolleyes:

Thanks Dee, I'm going to google SOY. I get what GP is saying but surely if we try as much as poss waht nature can help us with then we'll have given it a fair crack!

Any tips on improving sperm anti-bodies?? Aaargh x

Just wanted to say hi and wish you luck on your journey. Good luck with your diet and do keep going, there are lots of sucess storys from lttc group if ladies with pcos getting pregnant right before starting ivf..

I have had the ladies version of reversal and am now pregnant with my last child.
I consider myself to be very lucky to Be in this position, as we tried a summer of ivf in 2012 which failed and then used credit cards ( now a whopping £12,000 to fund it and the reversal as last ditch effort).

I do wish you a very speedy bfp all the best xx
