I have at last had my coil removed (like 20 minutes ago!) and I and now officially TtC.

I've never tracked my cycles or anything, I have no idea how long they are or when I ovulate. Does anyone have any tips for a complete beginner?

The whole reason that I had the coil put in in the first place was that after the birth of my DD they had trouble stopping my periods. They tried everything, every kind of contraception both hormonal and non hormonal and the coil was the first one that worked. They even tried doing a d&c to clear everything out.....

Also, has anyone else here had a Mirena coil removed and can you tell me what I can expect in the coming days with regards to bleeding or hormonal changes?

Look forward to joining you all properly now and watching your journeys xx

Hi there!
I'm in the same boat as u so jumping on if that's ok!

Hey, I’ve just come off bc pills and am in a similar situation. I can’t give you advice on coming off the coil but the say after coming off any bc ovulation can come up to 2 weeks after? Was it a hormonal coil or copper?? I would start by tracking your cm every day, when you ovulate you get an ewcm which is pretty noticeable however not all woman experience this so don’t worry if you don’t notice it. Because you really have no clue about your previous cycles maybe have 1-2 cycles before ttc so you can get an understanding of how long they are and when you ovulate etc? I know that’s easier said than done!! I’m actively ttc and having even had my first period yet! A lot of woman use opk’s and temp tracking too, might be something to look into too! Best of luck and hope you get the result you want soon!! X

Thanks Jemm. I conceived my DD after coming off BC pills and I fell a month after stopping them so here's hoping for you!

Hello again! I had my coil out in August after having it in for 6.5 years, I always had regular cycles with it, though shorter. I had it placed because I was bleeding every other week and it helped me a lot. I started bleeding the day I had it removed for 2 days, then stopped. Then I had no spotting until my cycle started at the end of the month, 30 days from my last cycle. I usually have 29-32 days cycles. The next month I had crazy emotions, my boobs were killing me, hot flushes, headaches, convinced I was pregnant. When I was researching this, it sounded like the "mirena crash" and the month after that was much better and has been since. Hope this helps!

I have had friends who come off the coil and they immediately fall pregnant without knowing when they ovulate. So good luck to you!

Well without giving TMI, I am hoping to make sure that we BD tonight to get the ball rolling. We may get lucky although I think I am too late to catch an egg this month due to the timing. We might have had more success if I had it out last week but never mind.

It's hard because I really want to avoid another November baby so I would either like to conceive before February or after April or so.

It'll be great to stick together!! Are you as terrified as I am? lol[/QUOTE]

Mine is coming out next week. My youngest is nearly 10 so it's a been a while since I've been on this journey so yes I'm terrified!!! I'm 39 so time isn't really on my side!!

Im hoping I can have the attitude 'if it happens it happens' but I know that will last all of 1 day!!!

I had my Mirena removed a few months ago, it was done during my laparoscopy as they were treating my endometriosis so my bleeding afterwards was all over the place.
For me at least, I bled for a week after the surgery, then it stopped for a week, then I had another bleed for a week afterward but that one was more like a period bleed. I then went 26 days before AF showed again (my cycles used to be 35 days previously).
I remember having cramps, bloating and a bit of acne too during the first few weeks after having the Mirena removed, but some of that may also be due to the laparoscopy too. It wasn’t too bad overall though. I’ve heard some women get horrendous heavy bleeding after having the coil out though!

I am very much sticking with that attitude. I don't want to go down the stressful route..... I also don't want to make my DH just feel like a sperm doner! lol

I had mine out back in February. I always had short bleeds throughout having it just 2 or 3 days of light spotting really once a month. Once out I bleed for a few days then pretty much settled into cycle straight away although mine have varied in length from 23 to 37 days with the longer cycles being the most recent. The longest couple I am starting to think may have been chemicals that didn't stick. We have only been officially ttc for 6 months. We used condoms for a short while then ntnp as wasn't really supposed to be trying due to having LLETZ treatment following abnormal smear. But then we decided sod it and cracked on with trying. Not there yet but hoping our BFP isn't too far away x

Looking forward to watching your journey and can't wait to see your bfp!

So I've started bleeding this afternoon after having the coil out.

Do you think that I should count this as the first day of my cycle or is it just a withdrawal bleed of some sort?
