Hi all

I had a colposcopy last week and they did the loop biopsy at the same time.

The Friday before I had a letter after having a smear saying they'd found 'Severe Dyskaryosis' high grade cells (CIN3) so it was to have those cells removed. During the appt, the lady that carried out the procedure said she didn't think it was cancer. I have a 2-3 week wait for the results.

The question I have is, have any of you had this done and if so, how long after were you able to start having sex again? We recently decided to start TTC and this cycle was to be our first TTC (that's out the window now obviously) but I'm wondering what experiences others have had and when we may be able to start actually TTC properly (providing my results come back all clear).

Thanks :)

I've only ever had a colp with biopsy and declined the treatment because I have severe anxiety due to ptsd so opted for wait and see approach. I only had focal area of cin 2 but mainly it being cin 1. With a biopsy it's no sex for 1-2 weeks and with treatment it's 4-6 weeks as you don't want to risk infection. So as long as you're bleeding and have discharge avoid sex, also no baths and be careful with exercise, take it easy so it heals up quicker. Hope you heal up soon and have clear smears in future x

Thanks hun :)

Not had any bleeding at all yet. The bit of 'gunk' that she used to stop the bleeding when she did the procedure has come out (yesterday) but nothing else at all (yet!).

Fingers crossed for clear smears from here on!

Thanks again

Oh that's good! That also means you should be taking it easy enough so carry on doing like this for now. I'm sure it's at least 4 weeks of no sex but that's quite the same as with anything procedures down below. After I had my son I had a third degree tear and the advise of 6 weeks no sex and if there is any with a jacket to avoid infection is all quite similar. In the long term it's worth the wait, time will fly by and you can happily start trying to conceive without having this to worry about! :D stock up and start conceiving/pre natal vitamins to build that up while you're waiting :) x

Thanks lovely.

I've been taking the pre-natal vits for a few months now to get them into my system and took soy this month to try and bring ovulation forward as my cycles are usualy soooo long. Will be interesting to see if it works :)

Thanks for all your help hun. Hopefully I'll be all healed up and good to go soon!

I had a LLETZ procedure for cin3 last year and was told to wait 4 weeks to let everything heal up.
I think that is the best thing to do, I did feel ready before the 4 weeks was up but didn't want the risk of infection so I waited

Wishing you a speedy recovery :D

Thanks lovely. The wait is killing me as I feel 'ready' already. Pain has stopped, no more discharge and no bleeding but going to wait as like you, don't want to risk infection or anything :)

Thanks
