I had a laparoscopy and hgc at the beginning of last week and before it I was desperate to get it over with to be able to get on with ttc, so our consulatant gave us clomid on leaving the hospital to start the following cycle. I totally didn't appreciate the impact having the lap was going to have on me and I am now due my af this weekend, so to start the clomid early next week and I am now wondering whether this is too soon!
On the one hand I obviously don't want to delay the process any further and have even read that having a hgc can increase your chances of conceiving, as it sort of clears you out, so want to take advantage of any truth there is in that!
On the otherhand I don't want to waste our first month on clomid if my body isn't up for conceiving and is it even safe to start a pregnancy this close to having a laparoscopy? I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who conceived the month after having a laparoscopy please? xx

Hello! I don't post on here that often as am more of a lurker, but hoped I could help a bit with this one! :)

I had a laparoscopy at the beginning of October last year after ttc 18 months, and they diagnosed/removed stage 3 endometriosis. I had the op about halfway through my cycle, so af arrived about 10 days after I had it done. The consultant told us afterwards that we'd probably need IVF due to my endo and some male factor issues.

Then I found out in the middle of November that I was 4 weeks pregnant :D It was a massive shock, but means we did conceive naturally on the first cycle after the lap. At my first appt with the midwife I mentioned the endo and recent lap, but she wasn't concerned about me getting pregnant so soon after, and neither was the consultant. I don't know what you had done during your lap, so that might make a difference, but from my experience I'd say go for it! I'm now up at silly o'clock with acid reflux and insomnia awaiting the arrival of my baby boy who was due last week...

Good luck with whatever you decide, I hope in the best possible way that you're suffering like I am in A few months time! ;) X

Ah, thank you ever so much for responding Beata, that's really helpful. I only had a fallopian tube removed which wasn't connected anyway so didn't actually have anyting done to what is now my reproductive system! I was just worried that having the procedure itself would cause concern if we conceived straight away afterwards, without giving myself proper time to heal! But no, my consultant wasn't concerned either and your story is really reassuring, congratulations on your soon to be new arrival :)
I'm probably just over thinking things, like usual! And I'm getting better every day so will hopefully be fine for my next cycle in a week or so xx
