Hello, My name is Kirsty, i have known my partnet for 8 years we lost contact after a while and i went to a party and we found each other after so long and fell in love instantly! he always wanted to be with me but i always thought to young etc etc etc and now nwe are trying for a baby and i couldnt be happier, basically Ive come off the contraceptiv pill after being on it for 2 - 3 years, does anyone know how long roughly it will take ti get pregnant, i know everyone is different but a rough idea would be nice i mean ive done the whole obvulation calender thing and i have dates which are the best to get pregnant, but would like some advice as it would be my first one and dont want to wait long haha.

Also i would like to hear peoples pregnancy stories the good bad and the ugly hope everyone is ok xx

hey hunni.. Welcome to PF .. Sorry i cant answer your qs (never been on the pill) but have you thought about ovulation predictor kits? Because i find calculating when you ovulate isnt always right, you could ovulate sooner or later than the date it gives you xx

To be honest no ive never heard of them ?? or where to get them ??

I did also lose a baby before whilst i was on the pill and didnt realise i was pregnant so carried on taking it !! and the doc was a total cow about it, but i wasnt sure if lossing one would make your body take longer to get pregnant ??

Hi, welcome to PF.

It can take the average couple around a year to concieve but like you said everyone is different. Id love to tell you my birth story for my son (i love telling people cos im so proud that i pulled through a really REALLY bad delivery) but i really wouldnt want to scare everyone cos i was like a 1 in 999,999 birth case!

I don't know anything about the pill, but like heartbroken says you could try ovulation predictor kits - I have just ordered some for the first time off ebay (searched under "ovulation test" I think) - they are SOOOO much cheaper there than going to Boots or somewhere! I got 50 test strips & a basal thermometer for about £8 or so.

i came off the pill in december.. had AF in January..
then started TTC in Feb but round the wrong time so AF again begining of Feb...
this month i have used OPK..
i would recomend them as i kind of knew exactly when i ovulated (i hope) ..
ive heard mixed storys about coming off the pill..
some say its highly unlikley you'll get pregnant straight after..
while others say ur most fertile after coming off it!
i guess only time will tell!! good luck!!

its all so confusing !!!
i went docs because when i came off the pill a few weeks after i had every sign going !!
swollen boob tender nipples feeling very sick very tired all the time ( i kept napping and i never do this normally) and craved sweets all the time and very emotional !

i went docs and all she said was .. basically i do not know what is wrong with you .. i wa slike .. great lol.

i had her do a infection test on me as well as a preg test, both negitive, i got worried i had a bad infection as my dads girlfriend works in a hospital and she said could be that, but aftyer all that a week later i came "on" 10 days early, which made me feel so down and upset but just keep thinking it wil happen when it does, just hate the wait !! i may look in to the opk tests if you think they are good ?

it was my first month using them.
i had 2 lines on CD 17.. so i thought id ovulated..
but i carried on using them up until CD 21 where THEN it was i had my surge and OV cd 22..
so if i hadnt OPK'd on CD 21 i would have missed it!
so yes.. i would recomend them theres cheepies on ebay xx

Hiya, I came off the pill in December and now in my 3rd month trying. I was like you with all the symptoms in the first month of coming off the pill but it is a natural reaction to the hormones in the pill wearing off!! My doc said to not be surprised if it takes at least 6 months to conceive coz of the pill but as you got pregnant on the pill then you might be very fertile! There are quite a few women who get pregnant straight away after coming off the pill.
I use opks mainly to tell me when af is coming as am very irregular (was before going on the pill too) I use cheapy ones so dont get an exact positive but know roughly when it is. Other than that I think if you Bd every other day then you prob cover all bases!

Hey hun, no info about being on the pill; I haven't been on it, but I'm now in my 3rd cycle TTC. It can take up a year for an average couple to get pregnant! Hope it happens sooner for both of us though!

With regards to the OPK's, it depends entirely on you really. I tried the cheapies in cycle 1 and never got a definite positive (the line has to be as dark or darker than control line) so switched to the Clear Blue Digital OPK'S which give you smiley face when you ovulate so no mistaking them! However, because they're more expensive, you have to be pretty regular! You can get them cheaper from Amazon or ebay though!

Mrs N thank you for telling me about your expirences !! its a blooming nightmare isnt it having all of the signs then .. oh nothing !! was really sweet though because my partner was genuinly upset that we werent pregnant bless him !!!
i think ive been off the pill for 2 months and been trying since i came off !! i hope it doesnt talk too long as i am completely in love with the idea of us all being a proper family ( babies and marrage)
Litrually feels like thats what i was put on this earth to do, fall in love with him and have a family with him (and have fun with the girlies of course !!!!!!!)
