Hi all,

I've just booked a week in Dubai to go see my brother, who lives there, in November. I'm really looking forward to going as will be the last chance i get to go over for quite a while i should imagine and work means Bro can't visit home too often so wanted to see him before i have LO. Will be a nice chance to relax too as he'll be at work anyway during the day so chillll time for me!!

I'll be 23 weeks when i go so well within the guidelines for flying, but do generally feel a little nervous about going as i'm guessing i will be quite massive by then?? Also i'm going by myself (OH has no holiday left to take) so struggling around with the bags could be quite enjoyable!

Has anyone got any tips for enjoying a break with bump tagging along? Anything i should defo NOT do (cant think of anything)?

Thanks

All I would say is rest when you need to and don't over do it.

I went to Canada when I was around 22 weeks and although the flight was fine, I found all the walking really tiring and the heat was difficult to deal with. My feet swelled too. I just had to sit down as often as I could. But if you're going to be mostly chilling you should be alright, just drink loads of water.

You may not be as big as you'd think by then so the bump may not be an issue.

I travelled last week and it was ok as well. Make sure you ask people to help you with your luggage and drink lots of fluids.

I'm not sure what the temperature in Dubai would be just but just be careful because your skin will probbaly be more sensitive than your used to pre-pregnancy. I went to Turkey in June and had to keep in the shade most of the time as I was just either burning or coming out in prickly heat.

Hope you have a good time.

During the journey wear clothes which show off your bump (but make sure they are comfortable)! You will probably have people falling over themselves to help you with your bags! :rotfl: I go into london quite a lot and wear just a normal T-shirt which shows off my bump nicely...I havent had to stand on the tube or train once since having a bump! People can be lovely when you are pregnant so make the most of it to make your trip easier. :D

Hope you have a great time

The most important thing is to keep yourself nice and hydrated. Always drink bottled water and have a bottle on you. The most money we have spent since we have been travelling is on water!!

I don't know how hot Dubai is but the sun is bound to be powerful there. I would recommend keeping out the sun as much as possible as heatstroke is not very nice!! I have been using an umberella everywhere to block the sun. Sun glasses are also a very good idea as where the sun is really strong it can hurt your eyes, and I found sometimes I got a bit dizzy when not wearing them.

On the flight they say its recommended to walk round at a minimum once every hour. I have taken about 6 flights since having been pregnant and have found it fine. Also some of those flight socks are a good idea as they keep your circulation good and reduces the risk of deep vein thrombosis which you are more and risk from when your pregnant.

Most important thing, relax and try not to stress out too much about things!! Its really fine travelling when pregnant! Just take breaks when walking around and don't over exert yourself! :D

Have a great time hun :cheer: :cheer:

Maybe not massive, i'm not and i'm nearly 25 weeks, at least you should have some energy and be feeling good - just take lots of water and take care of yourself

I fly to turkey on friday, all i know is flight socks are a must, i have bought a hat and a higher factor sun cream, im just planning to chill out for a week!

Will let u know how it goes next week xx

I just came back from Rome and was so glad I took my mothercare cooling foot/leg spray it really helped to keep me feet cool when they got puffy and hot.

Also as others have said wear clothes that show of your bump in Rome the women didnt give a monkeys :x & pushed in front of me for seats on the metro but the men gave up their seats when they saw me standng

I always carried water with me as the heat got to me and taking rests and sipping really helped.

Have a fab time and enjoy your stay
