Just came on to ask advice about a name, I really love Milo but oh hates it, so does his mother...my mother...my gran. .etc etc

so its been back to the drawing board for me
I've found a name That I'm somewhat "drawn" too, however I have come to think that maybe I'm punching above my weight...or is there even such a thing when choosing a name? for instance I cant imagine "Shannon"off the estate having a child called "prudence".

The names of my 3 other children are
Leo Jack 7
Imogen Mae 5
Alexander Jacob 2

and the name I can't help but love is
Rupert...

opinions please
x

I don't personally like Rupert (or Milo)

But I do think both of them fit fine with your other children's names??

Neither sound out of place or too pretentious

xxxxxxxxx

I quite like Rupert and think it goes nice with your other children's names! I'm not a fan of milo though.

Oh and I agree with CarNat, I don't think it sounds pretentious or 'too posh' xx

I love Rupert. I put it on my list for boys before we knew we were having a girl. I don't see it as any different from old fashioned names that have come back in recently Henry/George for example.
x

Rupert goes with your other los names, not so sure about Milo. I don't think it sounds too posh either x

Tapatalking so can't see signatures

thanks for your responses... a baby called Rupert Is cute, am adult called Rupert is pretty cool, but a teenage boy??? next to all the kaidens, jaydens and Harleys might be a bit "out there". It does make me think of a privately educated kid who wears cords, but then again, what's in a name I suppose?

doob I agree with you about the older names, George, Archie, Henry etc the only difference is now I commonly hear those names whereas I've never met a Rupert in my life... having said that I'd never met a Leo 8years ago when I chose that name, now though there are plenty.

I have a fondness of the name Milo too, but it's a no from everyone i suggest it to :(

I think that you mean that some names require a certain level of allocution to say them correctly, and Shannon off the estate might not be able to manage Prudence properly.

I think you are right that some names suffer greatly if someone cannot say them properly, whether due to lack of english skills or having a broad dialect.

I do quite like the name Rupert, but it is one of those names xx

He would probably use Ru as a teenager. A friend of ours has a Reuben and its shortened to Ru which is quite unusual but nice x

oooooh I love Milo-was on my boys list. And Rupert is so cool, I love that too. Both are strong sounding boyish names and defo go well with your other kids. Xx

Sent from my BlackBerry using Tapatalk-its rubbish tho so can't see tickers or upload pics!

thanks guys, feeling a little less self conscious about it now, Milo is probably my absolute fav but oh won't even contemplate it :'(

I'm not keen on miles...I don't really know why either.
I think I may just have to wait until baby is here and look him over and decide.
is it just me or do boys names suck?

Rupert Hound! I bloody love his name. I think its cool my OH wouldnt let me have Rupert though but Rupert Bairstow sounds a bit Rupert Bear to me too lol. xx

Hun, he's called Rufus Hound.

I think Rupert would be shortened to Ru too when he's a teen which sounds pretty cool. If you and OH like it then go for it! x

:wall2::wall2::wall2: im so bloody stupid of course he is!! oh well i like Rupert all the same!! :D i asked oh about Rufus but he says its a dogs name  he is so fussy about names xx

Lol no worries hun. I'm the same as your OH with Rufus, see it more of a dogs name x

I love Rupert, but I know what you mean about feeling slightly posher, go for it.

I am afraid i'm one of thise that really doesn't like Milo, but probably only because Tweenies have done it to death with me, when my older kids were small. It's probably not very commonly used nowadays and thats a good thing, I like more unusual names. Don't worry about what other people think of a name, it's your choice X

You said boys names were hard for you - I hope to ttc this month, but I have 6 boys names I already love, and only one girls name!! girls are hard for me..
