i am getting really confused here as it says in my baby book, 'no eggs until baby turns one'

now does everyone on this site know something that i dont. :?

Right i have just been looking on the net and there is loads of conflicting advice as to when to give eggs, some are saying the yolk is ok b4 1yrs old but not the white, some say after 6 months and some say after 1 yr!!!!!!!!
I think it in case of allergies, and deff no raw egg at all in puddings and such.
Peronally i tried Jack at about 7 months and gave him Eggy bread and watched for reactions he had non and i now sometimes give him scrambled egg.
I go with my gut feeling now
How are we supposed to know what is right when there is 101 different things written???

thats so true jo. i will try liam over the next few days, having eggs helps with recipes a lot more.

Reece's fave foods are

Cauliflower cheese with broccoli

3 spears broccoli
3 florets cauliflower
15g (1/2 oz) butter/marg
1 tablespoon plain flour
125ml (4 floz) full fat milk
30g (1 oz) grated cheddar cheese

Cook the cauliflower and broccoli. (i buy bags of frozen ones. They last for ages and are loads cheaper and only take 5 mins to cook)
Meanwhile melt butter/marg in a pan, stir in flour, add milk, ad cheese then stir till cheese melts and sauce thickens. Add veg. Then puree or mash.

Pasta sauce

i chopped onion, 1 clove garlic crushed (optional)
2 courgettes chopped
1 green/red pepper (or both)
1 tin tomatoes
2 teaspoon mixed herbs
2 tablespoon oil sunflower or olive

Heat oil and cook onions (&garlic) until brownish. Add courgettes, tomatoes and herbs. Simmer for 10 mins. Add peppers. Simmer for another 5 mins. Mash up or puree.
serve with pasta.
I use Farfallinemini pasta from Tesco. It's tiny little pasta bows and just the right size for babies (and only 34p a bag!) :D

This milkshake is great for keeping them full between meals-
150ml baby's usual milk
pot of whole milk raspberry yoghurt (i use munchbunch)
4 slices fresh or tinned peach

Blend all ingredients together and serve in beaker.

Jamies favourites are cheesy mashed potatoe with beans, or corned beef hash and beans! both really quick and simple!! :)

Just made Jack

Tuna pasta bake
Tin tuna
Tin sweetcorn
Pasta
And cheese sauce as mentioned b4

Boil pasta at same time as making cheese sauce
When sauce is ready put tuna and sweetcon in it and stir well off heat, then add pasta
Thats it done, quicjk and easy and mde 5 Jack portions
( dunno why i call it bake, 'cos i don't bake it at all for Jack!!!)

I also made this for him but dunno what to call it!!

2 peppers 1 red 1 yellow
1 onion

Rost the peppers in the oven for around 30 mins When ready remove skin
Dice chicken and fry in little oil with onions
Chop pepper n to bite size bits and add to chicken
Drain your tin of toms over the chicken and pepper and some of toms if requied depends how you want consistancy.

Simmer for about 15 mins whilst pasta is cooking, add all together then freeze as requied Makes 4 Jack portions

my hubby is a right fussy sod. he wont eat cheese on toast cooked by anybody but himself. wont eat lasagne as he doesnt like white sauce, makes him heave.

was watching fear factor last night and he would be absolutely useless on it. be like a right girl pants.

For goodness sake.... Give me a minute!!! :shakehead: :rotfl:

Right....

Real Egg Custard with Vanilla pod

5 egg yolks
300ml milk
300ml single cream
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 vanilla pod

Whisk the egg yolks lightly in a bowl. Put milk and cream in a pan with sugar and vanilla pod. Before you add the vanilla pod, split it in two, then add. Heat milk until simmering point.Remove the split pod and scrape out the seeds with a teaspoon. Put seeds back into milk mixture. Bring gently to boiling point, pour into the egg yolks, whisking CONSTANTLY!! Pour the mixture back into the pan and on a very low heat. Continue to stir constantly until the mixture thinkens and just coast the back of the spoon and no more. Take it off the heat and pour into a cool bowl.

Although freezing is not recommended, I have and no probs so far!

Enjoy and terribly sorry about the delay!! Every time I've been on here, I've been in my bedroom - too far from kitchen! Sorry!! :D
