This is only my third official day of maternity leave and I'm already going bonkers with boredom. I am desperate to get out (and feel pretty good today) but not sure if my cankles will take it.

My OH works in Glasgow which is 40 minutes away by train and has offered to take me out for dinner, too. There's an H&M with baby section, a big John Lewis and all these great places with baby stuff and they're not more than a 10 minute walk apart.

Do I be a brave girl and go? I also got my holiday pay in a lump sum yesterday (which doubled my pay for the month) and I'm sorely tempted to buy me and baby a wee treat even though I'll save most of it.

Dilemma!

I say go for it!!!! I have cabin fever as well and am going into town with my Mum this afternoon :D

I say go for it too!!! let us all know what lovely things you buy. :D

I'd say do it, cos at the moment I daren't leave the house unless I have someone with me, just in case.

i would go it does u good to get out. esp shopping :cheer:

Well I'm offskis at 2! However had a bit of a disaster - decided it would be a good idea to use the pizza making leftovers I had for lunch and stuck a bit of everything on it. Then proceeded to drop a slice of pepperoni on my left boob. Tried to wash it off and ended up looking like I had a major leakage problem, even after I dried it (it actually LOOKED like dried up milk). Opted for a change instead.

Will let you know what I bought!

Didn't buy much except a nursing top in H&M for me (was down to a fiver) and a wee top for baby from Mothercare that says "50% mummy, 50% daddy on it.

I had nice tapas for dinner but I am ZONKED!

You were well behaved for not spending loads of money. It can be fun to window shop as well.

When I started my maternity leave I had planned loads of things to do for the first few days so that I wouldn't get bored. I actually still arrange things, such as meeting friends, beauty treatments etc, at least a week in advance. I find that when I have something to look forward to each day I don't have time to get bored. But then I am like Monica in Friends - far too organised.

congrats on your restaint at not buying loads
though it sounds like you still enjoyed your day :D

ME TOO! My OH often points out when i am having a 'Monica moment' I ALWAYS plan everything in advance - so i've got things to look forward to, i have lists coming out of my ears (ok, maybe not literally)...

YAY for shopping!! I'm off shopping tomorrow! It's exciting! (as is the thought of the many coffee/tea breaks i'm going to need) i wonder how many cafes i can visit in one day...
