This wouldn't just be for ppl who already had kids but I felt it safer to address those in the title so as not to uncessarily panic first time mothers to be. Hopefully if you've had a baby before you'd know about it. My MIL today told my husband a sad story about s woman she knew or knows who had a healthy pregnancy and during birth they were monitoring her and the baby's heartbeat..all fine. Suddenly they couldn't find the babys heartbeat and he was born dead. No cord round his neck, nothing wrong him...think was a boy. They said he was too stressed out with the pregnancy. I know still borns can happen for other reasons but this shocked me as I thought it was pretty much guaranteed once your giving birth that the baby would be born alive and anything wrong they could fix. I dunno if it was ger first...think so. Scared me! Any thoughts on this??

Nothing is guaranteed at any point of life hun. But the trouble is when you hear such devastating stories they are the ones stuck in your mind, not the thousands of miracles that happen every day. My mum and me were only given a 10% chance of survival and we are both very much alive and kicking.

Don't depress yourself with stories like this for too long hunny xxxxxxxxxx

as babybrain says nothing in life is ever certain. you could be run over by a bus tomorrow and spend forever worrying about it and it not happen. live life thinking of positive outcomes and dont dwell on the negative so much, it works for me.

i try and abide by a set of rules
is it bothering me.........................yes or no?
can i do something about it.......................yes/no
if no why worry, if yes then do something about it.
simple and effective lol

I know totally how you feel hun I have got scared reading some things on here where people have had issues with 20 week scans and at birth etc. I am just so paranoid all the time.

Such a sad story!

BevG - thank you for that.... very true and i will definitely use this to keep me motivated with a number of things! and keep positive xxx

Don't listen to the horror stories, the likelihood of that happening is very small. My younger twin brothers were born at 28 weeks weighing just over a pound each with many complications, as soon as they were born they got sent to a London hospital and my parents were told to get them christened that night at the hospital as they would not make it through the night...I now have two 23 year old brothers that constantly pick on me lol. They were in the papers at the time and everything..so for every horrible story there is a good one too x

Bev I'm going to type that up and keep it on my work diary! Every time something bugs me, I'm going to look at it!!! Xxx

that poor woman that must of been totally horrible for her! i think i have comfort in the fact that if they detect the baby is in distress they tend to deliver as quick as possible however possible, such a shame this wasnt the case in this instance :( xx

Like others have said, nothing is gauranteed. There is no 'safe' time during pregnancy, anything can happen at any time and labour is very stressful for both mum and baby. Once baby makes it safely into your arms though there's a whole new load of worry lol

I dont think it is something that anyone wants but I believe death can come at any time. Its about making the most of the time we have.

ive had three friends go full term and even deliver on due date and baby be stillborn. one had no explanation why despite a PM

Live for the moment x
