Hi girls.

Havent been on for a while and noticed that quite a few of the babies have sleep problems.

As I am to lazy  to type it again, just gonna repost my post from another thread.

Hi hun

Just saw this. Basically Daniel's sleeping improved a LOT after we used this system.

First of all try getting her to sleep 1 hour later. She will be windgy but it is worth it. (we are getting him to bed at 7.30pm, after a LONG bath)

Second - nappies. Daniel leeks in anything apart from Pampers (but the ordinary ones, not those Superfit or whatever ones. The ones in green package are the best). Try not to change her at 11pm. Maybe it is worth going a size up and buying those pants which you put on top of the cloth nappies, which doesnt let the wee through)

Third - the feeds. What we do, feed Daniel before he goes to sleep, and then feed him at 11pm (basically we dream feed him. Like a baby) Also, try adding baby cereal in the bottle of your usual formula milk. For a 9oz bottle about 2 teaspoons. But make sure its not to think, and keep in mind that it tends to bulk up after 5 minutes. And feed her with the teats which have wider opening, for thicker liquids.

Fourth - ignore crying. I know it is hard, but what we did in the beginning was, when Daniel started crying in the middle of the night I just went to his room, without any talking/eye contact put him back in his cot (he was usually standing up in there) and just sat on the floor so he can see me. He cryed a lot, for about 10-20 minutes, then just sat there watching me and then went to sleep. But you have to be really strong not to show any signs of you noticing her. So, after I saw that he went to sleep, I slowly moved further and further away from the cot. Sometimes he woke up and I had to go back and start from the beginning. Might take a few days, but now if Daniel wakes up in the night he isnt even crying, just sitting in his cot playing (I can hear all that on baby monitor). I only go and check on him if he is REALLY upset (you know that high pitch crying)...

And for those babies who wont go to sleep on their own. After a bottle/breastfeed just before going to sleep, keep your baby on your lap for 5-10 minutes while she/he realxes, and then, regardless whether she is alseep put her in the cot. If you have the baby who starts crying straight away, do the same if she would wake up in the middle of the night (look nr4 part). If not, just go away and dont come back until after 5 minutes of crying (if your baby starts crying of course) then follow nr4.

Well, hope this will help. Worked for us (hope Im not gonna jinx myself, hehe)

Brilliant post and really helpful.
We've done this with Tom and it's worked. It's given me my sleep back and I have a rested baby too!

you make it sound so easy lol.

I'm on the brink of quitting uni because of Alex's clingyness and breastfeeding (mostly at night but through the day he's clingy too).

Xena- LOL  It wasnt easy :wall: Few days I was walking like a zombie
But now Daniel has his 11pm dreamfeed and sleeps till about 7am (the earliest he wakes up is 6.30, latest 8.30)
