My eldest daughter is a thumb sucker. This doesn' really bother me as she is still only 23 months. However recently I have noticed that her thumb is really red and quite dry looking and cracked. I think this is due to her grating her teeth on her thumb. I haven't got a clue what I can do, to try to help her thumb heal. Has anyone got any suggestions?

This happened to Ellie at a very similar stage. I tried to get her to stop sucking it but failed, in the end, when it got really infected and she ended up on antibiotics I gave her a dummy. It was at least better than her sucking her thumb and making it worse. We are now struggling to get the dummy off her. We have finally managed to get her to accept it is for sleep times only, but god knows how we are going to get her to sleep again without a dummy. Sorry I can't offer any useful suggestions.
