Hi ladies

Sorry for the gross topic...

I've always been prone to thrush prior to pregnancy so it's no surprise that I've ended up with it now at 5w5d.

I've always used the cannesten fluconazole oral tablet and that's cleared it up within 24-48 hours. Clearly I can't use this now as I'm pregnant, and to make matters worse I am abroad!

So I sent my OH to the pharmacy and have ended up with some cannesten external cream and a pessary. The pessary is just a tablet though with an applicator - does this sound right? I thought it had to be some cream or something??

No experience with the pessary, any help appreciated please.

How long should it take to clear up?? I imagine it won't be as quick as the oral capsule

Hi Wednesday - yep the pessary is like a big tablet that you shove up there with the applicator lol. Sometimes they come as a twin pack with some external cream.

I was really prone to thrush before pregnancy to the point that fluconzaole didn't work on me and I had to have a 7 day course of a stronger type that I can't think of the name of at the moment. I got really bad nipple thrush when breast feeding and fluconzaole was ok to take but this other one wasn't so had to look at more natural alternatives. So apparently coconut oil destroys thrush - not sure about putting it in your lady areas but might be worth checking out of you can! X

The doctor told me not to use the applicator when pg and to just push in with your finger. This worked fine for me, I put it in before bed and it was miles better the next day. The only cream you get is the external one which is to smooth the itch x

I had thrush a lot whilst pregnant with my daughter, I've had it once so far with this pregnancy. I was prescribed the pressed and cream.

I've just had thrush for the second time while pregnant. It took about a week to clear up which is longer than normal, I put that down to being pregnant. I always use the cream and pessary. I used the applicator just didn't push it in as much as normal. Hope it clears up soon!!

I got prescribed daktacort cream from the doctor, safe to use when pregnant. Id already tried the pessaary and the canesten cream, wasn't budging it x
