What do you think of Arwen? Husband would like a welsh name if we have a girl

Not for me but think my judgement is cloudy by a former old hag/witchy neighbour with the same name. Are you Welsh? Why only a Welsh name if you have a girl? My fave Welsh girls' names are Rhiannon and Sian (not sure how popular they are though or how much that matters to you?) xx

husband is welsh and very passionate about his heritage however I am not so keen now I think about it

But why not a Welsh name if you have a boy? Or have you chosen a boys name already? I would try to stay as open minded as poss - if you come across a Welsh name that you both love, then great, but if not you keep looking as most couples do until you find something you both agree on :) xx

Already have name sorted for boy. Have a little one with a very welsh middle name already.

It's not one I'd choose purely because Arwen is the name of one of the elves in Lord of the Rings - nerdy I know haha. I don't really have any other suggestions to give though, I don't really know any Welsh names off the top of my head.
I also agree with keeping your mind open to other possibilities which aren't Welsh, you need to both love the name and be able to picture yourself calling you LO it through every stage of their life. If you aren't in love with it then don't settle, you don't want to look back in a few years wishing you had called them something you loved rather than just liked. My OH is Irish but there isn't really many names which I love which are Irish, in the end we ditched the idea of an Irish name for that reason.
I hope you find a name that you both agree on

I was going to say isn't Arwen one of the elf characters in Lord of the Rings. I do quite like it though, but if you're not 100% sure then it probably isn't the right name for you. I think when you find the right name you just know - a bit like when you try on a wedding dress and just know it's the right one lol xx

I like it! I like that it's different and that it has meaning! It is different and you will get mixed opinions! Might it grow on you? My boy name (chosen by hubby) has grown on me and now I love it, I keep throwing other ideas in but we always come back to the same four (2girl 2boy!) x

Dont like Awren ...

What about Imogen or Ariana? Thats Silver in welsh :)

Or Tegan? My friend spells it Teagan though x

But OH doesn't

Think we r all settled with names for both sexs now.
Still love looking though :) xx

I actually really like it! I also like Ffion. My username is also a welsh female name (I picked it because it's my welsh pony's name lol) it is pronounced Belva rather than Belfa x
