I was going to buy a (very expensive!) thermometer that you 'insert' in the ear and it gives a reading in a few seconds.
However, someone told me that they are very inaccurate.
This person suggested a 'forehead scanner' type thermometer?

Does anyone know which is better, or of good research online that has compared them?

Or any other recommendations of thermometers?

Also, my husband thinks it is normal to measure the temperature of a baby from its butt. I have never heard of such a thing - am I the odd one out?!

i have one that goes in ur ear im sure its fine as thats the kind u have when u go to docs or hosp

you can do the butt method! it's the tried and tested one, quite old fashioned but very accurate.

I got one of the ear ones very cheap from the chemist's I must admit though, I have a 4 year old and have never needed to use a thermometer on him. Obviously they are useful to have but not a necessity at first.
