i had mine a few weeks ago after waiting 8 years since my last one 
Now i dont really know why i didnt go! Its not that embarassing....well, not much embarasses me after giving birth anyway! I lost count of how many people saw my downstairs 'area' so a smears nothing really,
And looking at my girls...its just too important to put off. Hope you all get yours booked!!

Haven't had one since Jamie was about 6 months old, so am well overdue. Think you have to wait between 4-6 months after having baby don't you?
I'm not bothered about getting it done, it's getting the results that scares me, I'm terrible with things like that.

I hate that whisk thingie they use *shudder* its like a tortue device. I've heard its plastic now is that true??
I had my most recent smear about 5 weeks ago and it came back normal. I had it done so soon after giving birth as I had a period and Doctor said might as well do one while I was there.
Previous smear I had to go back twice due to inconclusive results before they got a decent sample. That's often why they are inconclusive, just not a decent enough sample.

I had one about 2 weeks ago. Was my first one and i had put it off for a while. Nurse put me at ease straight away. Was abit uncomfortable for a few secs but was done in less than a min, it wont worry me at all now when i go for my next one.
I just had my smear test. i have to have one every 6 months as i had abnormal cells. Hopefully this one will come up clear and i can go back to having one every 2 years. The nurse who did this one though, lost my cervix then she found it and then she started talking to it! I dont hold out much hope, I think i may have to repeat it

It came back abnormal, waited 6 months, next one still abnormal, had colposcopy & biopsy taken, called back for LLETZ, repeat colposcopy - still abnormal had LLETZ again, 6 months later all clear! Finally! Nearly 3 years after first having my smear So now I have to go every year for 5 years. Keep thinking that if I went when I was supposed to I wouldn't have had all the hassle!

I first mentioned it to my GP at my 8 week check up, because it was written in my NOTES that I should have one! BUT, he said - as Im not 25 yet I dont need one
Well, after seeing this thread I decided Ill try again. I went to another GP at our practise and said it again! Mentioning that it was even written in my notes. BUT- he said the same thing! I also told him that my father died of cancer (which i think not exactly puts me at risk of having cancer, but still..) Anyways, the answer is no! And today in a paper I saw an artical that a 21!!! year old has cervical cancer
Can you do the smear test on private insurance (meaning I dont have to pay for anything apart from insurance)?
I am just really pissed off! Why on earth I cant have one if I want one!!??? Surely, loads of cases could have been prevented by having regular smear tests! Even under the age of 25!

Well I just got my letter through the post today inviting me for my smear test!
I rang the clinic, told them I was pregnant and that after the baby I was considering having the IUD put back in.
The receptionist basically said that when I come in for my 6 week pp check up, I should talk to the dr/nurse (can't remember who your meant to see) and then discuss contraception and having the smear done.
If I do decide to have the IUD I'd rather someone's only ferretting up there once, than having to go back later to get the smear done as well!
So, yes Urchin, please put my name down as well, but don't expect to be able to cross it off the list for a few months yet!

Finally.... have booked mine today.
It's on Oct 2nd, while I have my Mirena 1 yr check up at the same time.
I'm quite scared actually because last night I checked my Mirena threads which I haven't done for ages, and felt a small hard lump on my cervix, I'm going to mention it at the appointment but with all this about Jade Goody in the news I'm crapping myself

It was many many years ago when i last had a smear test and the results came back inconclusive, i think this was because i had just started my AF that day (unfortunately) Well.... i never went back for another one like i should have done and so i booked another appointment but failed to wake up in time!
Finally I have been and booked another appointment at the doctors, taken the paperwork to the OTHER doctors for them to call the health centre and now i am just waiting for the health centre to call me to tell me the date and time (yeah the Spanish like to do things the long way round!!!) It normally takes the health centre a week to call with an apt and then a 2WW.

It normally takes the health centre a week to call with an apt and then a 2WW. put me on the list! in my area they dont offer them until yu are 25 but you can still ask for one and also every thurs one health clinic has a walk nite where women can go have one if they feel the need to.
i am only 23yrs but i have been sexually active for 10 years and after 2 children i think i should go for one just to be on the safe side! i thikn its ridiculous that they dont off them sooner.

Add me! I do everything to avoid it. After being induced with a pill, getting my waters broken for me and having forceps shoved up there you would think I'd be alright with someone prodding about but it still freaks me out! I will get it done at some point but I am letting my nether region have a rest before I let someone else down there... including Ewan!
