Omg how much worse can heart burn get, its really burning and it doesnt just lay in the chest area, its coming right up to my throat, it really does feel as if im on fire,

I have never had it before, and i have had 2 babys before... so why now
Any cures! at the moment the only thing i am doing is drinking milk and hubby os going bonkers cos we are going through sop much, yet this only keepsit at bay for 10 mins or so...

Its so sore...

Awww bless you, huge hugs to you     .
It's blooming horrible is'nt it, I've been taking liquid Gaviscon and it seems to help me quite alot. You can get this on prescription from your GP too so it won't cost you a penny but in the meantime a small bottle cost me about £3.00 something I think. Hope that helps

Gaviscon, tbh i not heard of it lol, thanks huni i will try it, but im a prood when it comes to taking anything lol, so it works for you, do most pregnant women use it, have to pay a visit to gp then, £3 a bottle for a small one it must be expensive stuff....

Chers i cant cope any more, i have to try something lol...

Yeah, I agree, Gaviscon is great for heartburn. It comes as liquid or tablet form, but liquid works much quicker.

Gaviscon!! Gaviscon!! Gaviscon!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

It's not too pricy, £3-£4 I'd think for a small bottle but if you can nip to the GP you'll get a massive bottle free on prescription....benefits of pregnancy!!

Thx nicola, im going to docs, gonna buy a small bottle to keep me going for now though..

I had really bad heartburn the other day and I ate mints and it really calmed it down. Doubt it's always as easy as that but it worked for me

cant believe you've never heard of gaviscon before. havent you ever seen that really naff advert with the traffic pointer woman who starts dancing to 'what a feeling' (or whatever its called) when she has her gaviscon.

Hi chick i sympathise big time heartburn is ruling my life i've even sat up in bed and it shot out like exorsist until doc put me on prescription meds now it just a little every now and then gaviscon never worked for me 2 rennee and milk every 4 hours for a full day works and subsides it for longer periods, rice pudding and porridge work longer than milk as does yoghurts and thick milkshakes hope this helps Rachx

i had it in my last pregnancy but hadn't had it beofre. Rachael was born with a thick mop of dark hair and i swear it was the reason for the heartburn
no cure but eat small portions and milk is meant to lessen the attacks. nothing worked for me. i had it alost constantly. :(

I agree with budge about the heartburn being caused by the babieshair. I had terrible heartburn during my pregnancy and my little girl was born with a head full of really dark hair. Everyone said its an old wives tale but ive heard its true for loads of pregnant women. :D

Thanks girls for your replys, i never had heart burn when i had bradley and yet he was born with a mop of hair, i couldnt belive how much he had when his ventalator hat was taken off, he was 3 days old before i saw his hair, and to say shocked is the word lol, so i dont agree with the old wifes tale if you have heart burn its cos baby has loads of hair, i would have had it really bad last time and didnt have it once!!

I have bought some gaviscon and i must admit it does cool it but im finding rice pudding is working for me too, must be the cream, but i'll get so fat lol its so fatty isnt it, oh well i'll keep trying to find these remedies..

I tried the gaviscon cool tablets cause I hate the liquid and they are much more palettable.

Hi i had never had heart burn before i feel pregnant and yer it hurts like hell! i found that gaviscon made me sick so i had a jelly tablet called settlers tums they come in all different flavours and they are convenient if you are always on the move, Good luck

Rennie mint soft chews....

works a treat for me now.. bought loads...

I had terrible heartburn with my son and he had NO hair when he was born so that throughs the old wives tale out of the window for me.

I kept a packet of gaviscon tablets next to my bedside at all times. They worked a treat plus you need to elevate your head so get extra pillows.

I have every sympathy with you, it's so unpleasant.
