Hi everyone,
I was hoping somebody could give me some advice on test kits, and the chances of them showing a negative result if you make a mistake.
My wife is more than a week late, and she used a First Response text kit last night, but the result was negative. However, she later told me that she held the stick the wrong way around when peeing.
Does anyone know if this would be a big enough error to produce a negative result even if she is pregnant?
Hoping someone can help!
Thanks a lot...

Yes she will get a negative if she pee'd on the wrong end of the stick. I'd try another one. Good luck!

Oh really? Right then, best try another one!
We went through the instructions three or four times, too, but I think she was understandably nervous, bless her.

I do actually have one more question if it's OK: she hasn't had any symptoms thus far, she says she doesn't 'feel' pregnant. Do all women have symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy? Or do some have none at all?

Last question I promise! :D

Ask as many questions as you like! No not everyone 'feels' pregnant in the early days. Some women don't realise they are pregnant for ages because they don't feel any different.

Bless here, I can understand how nervous she must be. No wonder she made a mistake. Better luck with the next one.

Thanks a lot Becs - I'll pop back on here when we do another test tomorrow night.

Fingers crossed!

It's also better to use FMU(first morning urine) when using a pregancy test. Good luck :D

Thanks for the advice skairdykat. We're now so excited we want to do it as soon as we get home though!
The First Reponse kit we've got says it doesn't matter what time of day you test? Is that peculiar to that particular brand? Or is it just a marketing ploy to get people to buy it?

I think if your wife is late for her period then it won't make much difference what time of day. But FMU does have the biggest amount of HCG in it.

Good luck and let us know how she gets on
