Labour doesnt scare me.. Except for oneeee little bit.. Babys head!

Ive read its like a burning ring of fire.. but I just know im gonna tear and be in agony.. Even the pressure of two fingers in the twink makes my perinium hurt at the moment, i swear its all super sensitive and swollen down there since ive been preggo.

I dont wanna tear, I dont wanna ruin my twink :(

Its making me half hope i end up having a c-section, least id save my lady bits!

I know what you mean! It's not the tearing / cutting in labour that worries me... its the aftercare! God I cant imagine how uncomfortable it will be after with stiches... eeeek.

xx

i completly agree...

im going 2 start taking evening primrose oil to see if that makes a difference... but i think if my bits are gona tear or rip then they are gona do it anyway....

x

I tore so badly with Sam because as his head was coming out he put an arm up over the top of it... had to get a consultant to spend about 2 hours stitching me up and they wanted to give me an epidural and send me to theatre for it - but I can honestly say I hadn't even realised at the time

 So they've nothing to worry about then?? Joking, I wasn't really afraid of this.. The burning sensation isn't pleasant, but the mw who delivered Odhrán was pouring ice water over my bits until Odhráns head was out.. Also if you are told to pant then do it, apparantly when you are told to pant it's to prevent a tear (so she said), I hadn't even a small graze xx

yes you need to pant to deliver the head slowly that prevents tearing also have you been massaging your bits this is supose to help although i never tried it, i tore on my 1st and to be honest healing was fine i didnt have a problem but i did force myself to sit on it so i got use to the ache pain if you get me haha dont worry they are good at stitching and you lady bits wont be ruined

I got told not to push until mw tells you too. If you push too soon, you can tear! Me told me to push with charley but I wouldn't cos I didn't feel ready and I didn't tear and only had 2 small grazes!
Also with the ring of fire, when you feel it, keep pushing even if your contraction starts to die down! Bugger having to go through that twice!!

If u listen to ur body and what the mw's tell u then it will help prevent tearing. The burnin is awful (like tryin to fit ur fist in ur mouth) I delivered an 8lb and 9lb 5oz baby without tearing xxx

I know what you mean, this might be tmi but whenever I have sex now it burns afterwards like I've stretched too much and baby's head is gonna be much bigger than OH's willy...no matter what he thinks :) So I'm a bit scared too.
Have bought some almond oil to do that perineal massage malarky but have avoided it cos don't really want to do that either lol!

You can start using oils to massage your perinium to help it stretch easier. You could start doing this just now. Im not sure exactly what to do but google it or ask your MW, apparently it does help hun!
I got an episotomy with my first but had an epidural and only had a split second of pain and never felt the burning either with the epidural so cant really comment on that.

I was cut and also got a tear because I had a ventouse delivery - no epidural or anything either so pinched a little to say the least! I was petrified of getting cut or tearing before I gave birth, and I don't know if I was just lucky but afterwards really wasn't as bad as I had imagined it would be - sure it was a bit uncomfortable but really not too bad :)

Another tip, after the birth if you have had stitches it is sore when you pee and your urine feels like its burning you, i always kept a jug or plastic cup in the loo and filled it with warm water and poured it over myself down there whilst weeing and it really does work! It can be really stingy so keep this in mind and see if it works for you. I dreaded going to the loo whilst visiting cos i was too embarrassed to ask them for a cup lol

That's what scares me too! I think because I know that it hurts to be cut, whereas I'm thinking labour is going to be so far beyond pain, lol! I watched a video of someone giving birth the other day and when they cut I was like, nooooooooooo!! Hopefully when it comes to it, I won't even notice. And better to be cut than tear

I just googled perineal massage..

Im so screwed.. Doin that would be painful for me! :(

to be honest labour and giving birth etc hasn't really effected me yet people ask me if iam scared and i just replay back i dont know because i truly dont know anyone eles like me or am i being weird might also be the fact iam so busy etc i have got other things on my mind...

Toward the end I was more eager to just have my baby I was willing to go through whatever I had to iykwim.. Another thing to help ease the "ring of fire" I remember I wasn't pushing 110%.. I was holding back because of the stinging, but tbh you could do that for hours, you just have to close your eyes and think of what you're going to have minutes after.. It's so worth it x

I was like that with lace!! I had never done labour before so I thought how could I be scared of something I've never experienced! Even with charley, I was actually looking forward to labour the whole way through pregnancy and I'd def do it for a third time!!

Chaz you've officially just jinxed yourself :lolly:... Hmmmmm BFP for December!!

Oh gosh... dreading needing stitches. Totally listening to the midwife and pushing through the ring of fire. Fingers crossed he has a small head! xx

You def don't want a section, as that's aftercare pain too hun.
I heard a tear is better for healing than a cut, but I really have no experiance there myself
