Hey all, my name is stacey and i'm about... 2 months pregnant. i havent had my first ultrasound, so i dont know... but i am very very nervous and concerned.... can anyone provide some comfort and or answer.

i just got back from an all inclusive vacation a few weeks ago. At the time i didnt know i was pregnant. for the first three days i have to admit i binge drank. halfway through the vacation when my period was still missing i stopped. but for those three days i drank, alot. i drank so much that i was sick for an entire day.

i've been researching on the net and they say the first few weeks are the most crucial time in devopement, and im terrified that i have caused harm to my baby.

has anyone had a similar experience, or can provide statistics, or know how common FAS is????

First off hi!!
Congrats
FAS is pretty rare! Try not to worry to much as a lot of women drink before they know they are pregnant!!
From what I have read, FAS affects about 1 in 1000-3000 babies depending on what you read!

hey, congratulations sweetie

try not to worry, many women are doing allsorts of things they shouldnt be when they dont kno theyre pregnant. i didnt drink but i used cocaine and amphetamines and also took codiene and sleeping pills during those crucial first few weeks until i found out i was pregnant at 6 weeks. like you i was petrified i'd harmed my baby or even killed it :( after i read on the internet those weeks i'd been up to no good were the very weeks that the brain, heart, limbs- everything pretty much- is formed it was horrible waiting for my scans to check all was well. thank god it was, i have a perfect little girl. i dont endorse what we did but its not like u knew u were pregnant when u did it is it. im sure all will be fine, i remember posting a similar thread when i was anxious about this and someone said they conceived while on holiday and had been drinking to a paralytic state during the first trimester, and their baby was thankfully fine too. try not to stress about it hun i hope all is well as am sure it will be

hi honey
try not to worry. i was at glastonbury last year with no idea that i was 3 weeks pregnant - my baby may just have been a collection of cells at that point, but i spent my entire pregnancy terrified that my misbehaviour had done something awful to him. i now have the most perfect little boy. like trixi says, its not something i condone and i'd be horrified if anyone binge drank and took drugs deliberately when pregnant, but you (and i) weren't to know. i'm sure your baby will be ok

Honestly don't worry this is really common

My baby survived:

* Me drinking on an all-inclusive holiday (where I conceived - I went somewhat off alcohol the second week which should have made me suspicious I guess)
* The 8000-mile plane flight home.
* Acute food poisoning.
* More food poisoning at 16 weeks.

She's now 2 weeks old and perfectly healthy - and managed to weigh 8lb 9oz at birth :cheer:

Im sure you bean is fine

I didnt find out I was preg until 15 weeks because I silly periods etc.

But without knowing I...

Drank a lot on holiday and at home

Went on all the rides at Alton Towers

About 150 locks (canal)

Pushed about 20 cars out of a flood

And lots of other things Im sure.

Please dont worry

as others have said i would try not to worry. as long as your not drinking now thats the main thing.

i found out i was pregnant on January 7th 2008 and my baby has survived christmas AND new year! lol

thanks for the comfort girls.
i guess every mother freaks out like this.. i guess all i can do is pray and wait for that first scan, and the day s/he comes into th world!
