who used one? and did you find it helped/was worth the money?

you can rent them from most places like boots and mothercare i never used one sorry x

I rented one - I used it a little when I was contracting but not dilating during my several bouts of being induced (it wasn't working well) but not for the actual labour coz I was all hooked up to the drip and stuff.

I don't really know if it helped actually - certainly my contractions still hurt, but I dunno if they would have been worse without it or the same lol.

I'm not gonna bother this time though - just gonna have epidural ;)

I have one and tried 2. They don't work for me (then again acupuncture didn't either!) but I suffer from Chronic back pain so if your back pains only pregnancy related they might work very well for you.

Ask your midwife about trying one out.

i used the hospital one, and i didn't relise how much it was doing until they took it off.

i will def get one next time :)

I used one and would definitely recommend it. The thing about the TENS machine is you have to start it early when you're not in too much pain because the pain relief builds up over time - if you start it too late you won't feel the benefit when you need it and will think it's not helping.

I had to remove it when I was induced as there were just too many wires and things with the drip and the monitor.

I hired mine for about £20-30 (can't remember exact amount now) and will definitely get another one for this time.

LBxx

think i might get one then coz a few weeks back i had a really intense pain in my back so if my labours like that i think ill need something to help me out

the one i used was donated to the hopital by the family of a chap that was in my class at junior school, who had died. it had his name on it and it took me ages, inbetween contractions, to figure out why i knew the name!!

I did 12 hours of early labour with it, it really helped but my pain was all in my back so i think thats why it worked, my midwife said if you get most of the pain in the front they are pretty useless. Its definately worth a try.

thanks for the link Jade, think im gonna get one from there

i guess thats the problem with not knowing where ur pain is gonna be swan :( but i think i'd like one just in case :)

Go for it Claire, my view is that you can only try these things!
