We really like the name Ted. Is it ok to register the name as Edward but call the baby Ted?

Really confused about this whole Ted/Edward thing.

Ive never heard of an Edward being called Ted but don't see why not!! We're calling our little boys middle name Edward after my dad!!

I think that's fine x x lovely choice x

Ted is short for Edward, my dog was called Ted (hope that doesn't offend you) and a lovely uncle of mine too, great name.

You can register and call it whatever you want! I like Edward being shortened to Ted :)

Teddy Rosevelt was Edward. I think it's actually nicer than Edward which though lovely has now lost favour with me due to the fact it's so blooming popular since the whole Twilight saga.

I have a cousin called Edward and we all call him Ned. Another abreviation of the same name. I think it's perfectly normal to abreviate names (Eve short for Evelyn, Fred short for Frederick, that kind of thing).

I've never seen the twilight films, but I love Ted , makes me think of Teddy Sheringham, cute name and good when older too

you dont necessarily have to call baby edward - it can just be Ted all on its own! because when he goes to school they will have him as edward and everyone will call him that for a while until they get told his nickname is ted! x
