Teaching baby to sleep in cot during the day

Davina

We only let sam sleep in his bouncer for a little while (30-60 mins). He makes this easy for us though as his daytime naps are never longer than an hour. He doesn't sleep in the day any more than he has to  . Apparently his dad was the same at that age. :D

hi Sarah

I would love Liam to sleep an hour in one go during the day lol. He does 25 mins every so often.

Help i need sleep. :?

I found that Dom slept longer in the day from 20 mins to 45 mins + when he went in the cot as there were less distractions to wake him early :)

I found I felt guilty if he slept any longer and that I should be doing something with him - typical me :)

hey girls,
Maybe I've got one tip! :D
This morninh I went to my mother and baby group, and explained my problem about Maheen not sleeping if she is not swaddled (and of course as she is growing, the more she moves and the more it's difficult to keep her swaddled) and I don't want her development to be stopped because I swaddle her, and I was given an advice,...which I am trying on now, and it seems to work quite well!

Take a blanket or a big towel, and roll it on the longer side, and put it around your baby in the cot, like the head rest they usually have in the carseats. It creates a nest around your baby which is quite safe (you can always tie it if you are worried it will unroll itself) and it makes babies feel more secure.
At the moment, Maheen is in a grobag, surrounded by this nest I've made and she is sleeping
I am sitting in her room, out of sight though, to reassure her, but she seems fine for the moment!!!
If it's that good, sure I want to share this tip with you!
Try it and let me know :)
take care,
Mel xx
