I kind of know we wont get anything now cos we both work and havent got children (yet!) but is it worth me filling in the forms now? Is there anywhere on the form I can tell them I am expecting a child in the next few months?

I dont want to leave it to after the LO is born cos I wont have as much time as I have now!!

Any advice?

I think if you apply now you'll get turned down anyway hun so you'd have to apply again anyway :( Fill in the form, except for the dependants part and fill that in when bubs is born

I suspected as much! I dont know why I thought something like common sense might apply here!

I THINK I remember reading somewhere on the tax credits website or on one of the forms that they take your unborn baby into account either 2 or 3 months before the due date, can't remember exactly... Don't take my word for it though... I don't know whether it's for people who are already getting tax credits or whether you can do it as brand new as well. Best to give them a call before you send anything in. Much easier to do stuff over the phone. Do expect at least 15-20 minutes to get through though! I spent half my morning on hold! Good luck!

there is no online form, you have to phone them, they have to be able to verify who you are and then they send you out the forms.

Pointless, Pointless waste of time - hopefully we will get our forms this week and can get them sent off

now i understand why they backdate 3 months, it takes them that long to do anything!

We're waiting for the tax people to send out robs end of year statements so we can complete and send off the forms and so far it's been a week and a half! We're living on nearly nothing and can't do anything til they pull their fingers out their arse and sort it out! It's an absolutely farce!!! I'd check if the thing about the unborn baby is true cos if it is then wooohooo for you guys!!! X x

btw we have just filled in the form, and there was no option to put 'pregnant' or anything like that

it has taken us an age to fill it in, seems that these forms are designed to be difficult, which is a shame because its the people who wouldnt be able to fill them in that need the money most :(

We didn't do our application until 2 months after my daughter was born as we didn't think we were entitled to anything - and someone said to me just give them a call and ask!! So I did and it turned out we were possibly entitled to a further £25 per week! Filled in the forms, sent them back and we got around £90 per month in Child Tax Credits. We also had are payments backdated from when Grace was born so got a lump sum of 2 months payments!
