Hello everyone!

How soon did you start taking a new baby out to the public places? (Not just a walk in a park, but places like supermarkets, shops, restaurants?)

The problem is, that me and my husband don't really have anybody else to look after Daniel, and I wouldnt want to leave him anyways.

Is it safe? I am a bit worried about infections, and people trying to touch him...

How soon it would be ok?

Thanks for your answers

I had Arianna on the Saturday and got out of hospital on the Sunday and we went straight to Asda with her before I went to my Dads.

They are perfectly safe, just wrap them up warm etc.

i had a home birth, so had 2 take melissa 2 the hosp the next day for checks by paediatrician. on the way back we stopped in mcdonalds! i understand what u mean, when they so tiny and ur heads mashed from giving birth its scarey going out with them isnt it. but its fine! xx

I've had Dylan out quite a few times - I think it's important to get them used to the outside world xx

my midwife told me that you can take the baby out as soon as you want to - it's you that really needs to take it easy in terms of resting at home

We took Alex out for a walk in his sling when he was a couple of days old. With Ella it was longer because it was December, Christmas and cold! But I think we went to Mothercare when she was about a week :)

We had to take George out when he was 5 days old as we needed to do something at the bank. He was fine tucked up in his pram but I was a bit nervous. It didn't help matters when some old lady asked how old he was then proceeded to tell us off for bringing him out!

My daughter was 3 days old and we went to buy her some newborn size vests in Mothercare - I never even considered this issue! She was fine, I was in bits though - too soon for me - next time I'll chill out at home for the first week - I was in far too much of a rush to prove to everyone how 'back to normal' I was.

We also went for a short walk in the village the day after she was born - just for 10/15 mins though.

Valentine xxx

Awww enjoy it hun.......take things at your pace...bubs will be ok...all he needs is you, doesn't matter to him where you are, getting fed in a restaurant is just as good to him as getting fed at home, as long as you are comfortable he will be
