When does swelling become an issue? I'm 25 weeks pregnant and the last couple of days my ankles and feet have been like balloons. My right foot ankle is worse than my left.

Not sure if I should call midwife x

I'd give her a call, what's the worst she can say? Best to be safe x

I've had a bit of swelling on days I've been more active. It's always a good idea just to ring for reassurance. The problem with swelling is it's a totally normal symptom of pregnancy, but can also be a symptom of something more serious. I think I started with swelling at about 30 weeks with my little girl and I just took it as a pregnancy symptom. Turned out it was one of the first symptoms of pre-eclampsia, though I was swollen all over! My face was puffy, my wrists had swollen as I could barely fasten my Pandora and there's normally a gap of two fingers. My legs were so swollen that I could push my thumb in it and it would leave a dent for five-ten minutes. Always best to get advice if you're unsure.

If it was a sudden onset of swelling I'd say it's definitely worth checking. I started swelling during the heat wave last month and found it only really comes on when I'm on my feet for a long time or it's obscenely hot outside and I believe this is quite normal. However at 25 weeks and having it come on randomly I'd say you should get checked just to be sure.
