How many of you mums got a Swaddling Blanket for your LO as a newborn and was it any good??

Have seen them in Mothercare and just wanted your opinions, would a shawl do the same job?

I just swaddled Jack in his blankets as thats what they did in hospital :D

I just used blankets too. But I have seen other Mums with the swaddling blankets and they do look fab to me. I'd get one for a newborn next time. Isaac only needed swaddling on his first night home, he couldn't settle at all. After that he was fine.

I used a cellular balnket as that what my midwife said was the best thing as the holes mean baby doesn't overheat or something. I found them as easy to use as anyhting else.

they seem great! and ild get one, but there is no denying they are just a lazy way of swaddling and a more expensive way...

Cool, thanks ladies I wont buy an 'actual' swaddling blanket then, but il just use a jersey sheet or cellular blanket and see what he likes the best :D

I got one for Charlie, and i have just sold it on Ebay!! It was £15 or something.
She was always too small for it to be effective! Id use a cellular blanket next time.
I wouldnt recommend one!

I got a lovely one from mamas and paps for Jamie, he loves bein wrapped up in it and even licks it in his sleep lol!!!! :rotfl:

Hi

I looked at the swaddle blankets when Olivia was a newborn but she used to be sick quite often during the night and so I knew I'd have to get at least 2 and thought it was quite expensive.

Like Beanie, I used celluar blankets to swaddle Olivia but to begin with I wasn't swaddling correctly. The midwife then showed me that you put the blanket in the shape of a diamon then fold over the top of it - it was so much easier when I knew how!

Personally I think save your money but each to their own!

Lucy
