Surrogacy birth plan meeting

Had a meeting at the hospital yesterday with the midwife team leader and the head matron of midwifery services to discuss our surrogacy birth plan.

All went really well, they work with whatever we want. So we are decided that my husband and sister will be in theatre when she is delivered (section) and my brother in law will be in the recovery room.

My sister is going to have skin to skin immediately after birth and although she will be bottle feeding, I am going to express colostrum for my sister to give her with a syringe.

I’ll get a private room on the maternity for recovery (yay! If I have to stay a couple of nights will be so much better!) and they said that if baby Phoebe is all well (depending on what time she is delivered) then my sister can chose to either take her straight home that day or stay in one night and they will give her a room next to me.

I have a hospital appointment at 37 weeks for booking in the c-section ect but they actually offered to get us booked in now! So we have been booked in for Wednesday 24th June!! So as long as she doesn’t arrive early we know her date of birth!!!

It’s all getting very real now and can’t believe we are so close to the end. I’m so looking forward to meeting my neice and my sister becoming a mummy.....but have to admit I am looking forward to getting my body back and being able to play and be a normal mummy again to my boys!

MrsG this was lovely to read. The midwives seem as though they are really supporting you, your family and your wishes at the hospital which is really lovely. Fx all goes well for you! xx

I know that everyone said this already but you are an incredible inspiration and I hope all will be plain sailing till the end. I am also very impressed with the support the hospital gives you, not that we should expect anything less but still. I will be watching your progress closely and hope for some pictures at the end.

That sounds like a great service they are offering and are obviously giving you and your sister enough attention and respect. Hope all goes well with the section x

That sounds like a Good plan. I've found my hospital to be really helpfull so far hope they will be when we get towards delivery.
We want the same as you apart from the c section. Skin to skin with mummy. And daddy will be in the room aswell as long as he stays up by my head im sure everything will go fine.

Hope everything goes to plan for you x

Yes, it really is lovely to read. What an amazing thing you're doing. Sounds like the hospital agree and are doing as much as they can for all of you. Will be looking forward to your section date now! Xx

incredible....your a very special person xx

Thanks for all your lovely words xxx

Yes I have to say I have been impressed with how helpful and straight forward everything has gone at the hospital. It's a bit difficult to find information online as it's not too common in the UK so most of the information you can find is American, but so far everything has gone smoothly.

I'll keep you all updated! xx
