Hi everyone!

I feel like all I'm doing is asking question after question today. I need to relaxxxxx big time!

Anyway, saw my GP last night to confirm pregnancy (confirmed 3 weeks + 6 days).

I had a blood test a couple weeks ago which showed low folic acid, so he has prescribed me folic acid 5mg tablets to have the usual amount during pregnancy and also to top the levels up from previous blood test results.

Now I'm wondering what other supplements I should be taking? Or if I should still take Pregnacare even though I'm taking the folic acid 5mg? Can you overdose folic acid?

I'm confused!

Thank you in advance for your help and bearing with me and all my questions xx

sorry I don't k ow if you can overdose on folic acid but if you eat a well balanced diet you don't need to take additional supplements

I'm naturally low in Folic Acid, always have been so that's why he's given me extra. But should I take Pregnacare? I don't want the baby to lack anything. Google says Folic Acid and Vitamin D are the most important x

In my last pregnancy I was on the 5mg FA and also taking Pregnacare. I was fine :) x

I was prescribed extra folic acid because I’m overweight, I asked if I should continue taking the other over the counter pregnancy supplement I’d been taking and the midwife said yes, so you’ll be fine to take both x

Hiya. I take Tesco pregnancy tablets, they contain folic acid but you can take extra folic acid if you need it. I also take calcium tablets, coconut oil and potassium. They recommend now to take vitamin d (it’s in the Tesco pregnancy tablets) I used to take lots of supplements so had to google which ones I had to stop taking!

I take seven seas preg vitamins cos they're cheaper (Tesco is buy 2 get one free or something) I'm on 5mg folic acid and take vitamins have done for years no bad affect so I assume it's ok lol x

I'm taking 5mg of folic acid too. I also got recommended vitamin D (I'm using the dlux spray from holland and barrett) and a multivitamin but they said make sure the multivvit is for pregnancy as you're not supposed to have vit A
