Sorry if this a daft question but I'm sure I read or some one told me are more likely to get sunburnt if your pregnant? Is this true? I'm very fair skinned n normally wear quite a high factor so not sure if I should get higher. I'm up in Aberdeen n didn't think I'd b needin to know this as weather has been so shite up until Sunday lol xxx

I don't think it's much to with sunburn but it's not advised to sunbathe due to the pregnancy making it difficult to cool down so your very likely to over heat. It's 24 c down here in Essex today and I'm struggleing in the shade to keep cool.xx

I sat out for 20 minutes earlier and my skin is all red and blotchy! I am dark haired and never normally burn so I can only think it's because my skin is more sensitive at the moment. Def gonna slap on some sun cream :) x

Yes you are more likely to burn/tan in pregnancy. V good idea to pop on a higher factor! Am loving this weather!! Xx

I usually love the sun - the hotter the weather the better for me!!

Although not too sure how I am going to get on if we have a very hot July / August.

I feel fine at the moment though, in fact I've had to turn the aircon off in my office today

xxxxxxxxxxx

I have had a long needed day in the sun today and caught a fab tan but did use factor whereas I wouldn't as a rule! Just be careful, and if ur feeling too hot get in the shade, drink plenty of water an enjoy :)

im still as white as ever afte rbeing out in the sun x

Thanks Girlies do normally burn n did pop in and out as not to over heat also good excuse to stock up on loads of ice lollies lol!!! Just tried a wispa choc ice thing was yum!!!
Think I'll b on the coke floats later too!
Enjoy xxx

Regardless of whether your pregnant or not, it is advised to wear at least factor 30-50 sun cream, as well as keeping covered up. Suncream doesnt provide protection alone, and sunbathing is so bad for your skin! I'm working in dermatology atm, and the number of patients I've seen who used to sunbathe alot or even occassionally, those who work outside and even people who havent spent massive amounts of time in the sun having to have treatment for skin cancer and pre-cancerous conditions is shocking!

Yeh I always were 30 plus and love fake bake fake tan as that is the only way my skin will ever have any other colour other than White lol!!!
R u a student nurse baby em? X

I got so burnt today and don't usually. Was wearing sun cream just pottering in the garden. In so much pain. Poor me :( xx

Defo poor u it's not fun!!! Slap on plenty after sun aloe Vera is good aswell I keep it in fridge n it's lovely n cool going on!
I think I'll just have to resign to hiding under a parasol from now on lol xx

I got the sun yesterday which has annoyed me as I hate the thought of burning! Xx

Thanks, petal. I've no after sun  Will get aloe vera gel from work tomorrow though and slap, no, delicately layer it on!

Might have to invest in a burka for the rest of the heat wave :( xxx

Haha me too lol! It's so lovely to see the sun but it is a bitch when u get burnt!
Good luck xxx

Yes, you are more likely to get sun burnt when pregnant due to increased levels of Melanin in your skin. That's why a lot of women get that brown line down the middle of their bumps.
