Does anyone know any information about this. My mom says she saw something on GMTV this morning in which a woman lost her baby because she carried this infection. My cousins baby almost died because of the same thing. Anyway my mom wants me to pay the £35.00 to have a test done to see if I carry it (apparently routinely done in States?) Anyone please advise.

Hi Freya,
I had a case of strep with my last child and I went into early labor they were able to stop my labor and give me a shot for it, the baby and I were fine. They say if a baby goes through the canal it could be harmful to the baby. I'm not sure if they test regularly for it though they do soooo many work ups here I never know what they are doing!!!
Just keep telling that the baby is fine and all will be ok!
I would suggest getting it done though you don't want to take the chance in actually having it.
