Strange Weekend

Hi Everyone,

I have had a strange weekend and am trying my hardest not to worry.

On Saturday night I saw the tiniest speck of brown blood in my discharge. For a few days I had been having period type aches and predominantly backache. I immediately thought this is the start of a miscarriage (being the old worryboots that I am).

I spent most of yesterday with my feet up resting and the backache went away. I think maybe I'm spending too long on my feet??

I have read on so many sites that this shouldn't be anything to worry about unless I get bright red bleeding with severe cramp type pain. I've had neither of them. The spotting also seems to have stopped again now.

My b00bs are more sore than usual too. I've read that high levels of progesterone cause both sore b00bs and also backache as it softens the ligaments (or something like that).

The only telephone number I have is for the Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital where I've been twice before for scans due to bleeding. As the spotting has stopped I'd probably be wasting their time. I haven't yet got a midwife (am booked in for 17th August which seems a long way away).

If anyone has any advice I'd be so grateful.

I have had the exact same this weekend! Although its stopped now.
If you are at all worried i would just give the unit a ring , i am sure they wont mind and it might put your mind at ease.
When i was 6 weeks i went to my GP as i had severe pains, they refered me to the early pregnancy unit who were really good. I had my first scan when i went to see them and they even gave me a pic- not that you could see anything. It was however reallty reasuring.
These units are used to us ringing and asking questions.
Hope this helps
Take care

I had a small amount of old blood at the beginning of my first tri with Ella. Either due to her burrowing away or an erosion on my cervix (that's quite normal due to the pregnancy hormones).

Am sure everything is fine hon

Update:

Had more brown jelly type discharge today. Phoned the EPU and I have a scan on Wednesday at 9.30.

I just feel a bit strange and very worried.

 Hope it goes well on Wednesday and that you don't get too stressed between now and then (though I know it will be hard not to).

Have you had any scans for this pg before?

oh fruityloop its only natural to worry, i hope all is well on wednesday hunny thinking of youxx

I had a scan at 5wks and then again at 7wks and 1 day. Both times I had them because I was bleeding. Heartbeat was confirmed at the 2nd scan.

This time I have a heck of a lot of period type aches and back ache. it could be movement and stretching inside. I truly honestly hope that's all it is.

I am such an old worryboots. The lady at the hospital was very nice and said that I was right to phone. Now all I have to do is get through tomorrow and then it's the scan on Wednesday morning.

hi, my friend had spotting/bleeding all the way through her pregnancy. I was her first pregnancy and so was so worried about everything, she ended up having heaps of scans, and was convinced every other day that she was going to lose the baby... but I am pleased to tell you that she has the most beuatiful baby daughter....

try not to worry........... I know that that is easier said than done...
fingers and toes crossed for Wednesday

It's good that a heartbeat has been detected, that lowers your risk by hell of a lot (especially as they didn't see anything wrong).

Am sure it's totally normal hon and that your bubba bean is going to be fine. Big hugs  for tomorrow

be thinking of you tomorrow fruityloop hope all goes well, let us know how it goes

Will do.

Not had any nasty discharge today but at times I've had very strong period type pains and backache.

Will type as soon as I get to work from the hosp.

 hope all is OK.

xx

Baby died between 9 and 10 weeks.

No bed for me at the hospital today for an ERPC so have a bed booked for tomorrow morning.

Will type in the relevant forum when I feel ready.
