Hi all,

Im still measuring 3 weeks behind. I've just been to midwife appointment to be told i have to go up to the hospital again at 4 after already being there this morning for a routine consultant appointment to discuss my medication. Just feel like im getting pulled to and fro. Only going up for a trace as my growth scan is in two weeks which is too far away apparently but the hospital are the ones who sent me the appointment. Seems to be terrible communication between the appointments team and the units. Just a moan really, been told to expect to be sent straight to hospital every midwife appointment. Fully expect to go up at four and be sat for hours for a doctor to glance at my notes and send me home.

Anyone else having regular monitoring as well as scans?

Yep had that sane thing at my mw appointment turns I was measuring 3wks behind so had a growth scan yesterday n bubs is all fibe n just a bit small n tucked away!!

Ironically tho I have Bern diagnosed with GD so will be having mire growth scans n lots more monitoring n b induced in 9wks.

Hope it all goes ok for you hun.

I'm just back from midwife and been told I'm 2 weeks behind and she doesn't seem concerned? I however am feeling worried as I was leaking waters throughout with DD and only when I demanded a scan they realised my waters were going. Hope it's not the same story again ! X

It's odd isn't it how it varies, maybee because of your other condition more things have been notticed.
I have only been measured fundal height wise once but I always measure small and yet I know that for a slim size 10 lady , I do have a lovely roll of chubb ( seasoned baby belly) on my tum which im sure is filling any shortfall this time at age 42 ha ha :) my babies all arrive average weight so im not worried but I just think its all a bit silly, there should be a better wY of measuring or more routene scans at set weeks!

For your comparison, as a lady over 40, with 7 abdo surgerys behind her, popped early last time,
All ive had to date is 2 midwives, 2 consultants and 2 scans so far that's it... I find it all a bit lacking really..
I only have 34 week fetal scan ( only because of antibodies) 1 more consult checkup, no more midwives, preop bloods/consents begore surgery day to do !!!

Hope your scan went well and baby was just hiding nicely in there behind your super tum muscles

I've had 2 growth scans but they were due to reduced movements rather than fundal height. I have measured behind, ahead, spot on and now behind again but no-one has ever been concerned about it. My midwife says 3 weeks either way is fine (I haven't been more than 2 weeks out but she wasn't concerned at all by 2). I'm measuring 33cm today at 34+3 which is a week behind but this is above the 50th percentile so actually above average! The whole thing is confusing and I think leads to unnecessary worry. As its so inaccurate I think there has to be a better way to monitor baby's growth xx

Hi girls, our trust use anything over two weeks above or below so since im almost 3.5 they're monitoring me for iugr. First id actually been told of it, all the medical staff are lovely seems the admin staff seem to let them down.

Anyway baby girl is active, heart rate slightly high and they're just going to be careful as im only 5ft 2 and short bodied so im always going to show behind, so its just to make sure theres enough room for her. They're using twice monthly growth scans now and not obtaining fundaj height with relation to babies growth as the consultant did say it causes more worry and I'll be there every day if they keep using those measurements. Relieved im done next appointment in two weeks so can finally relax a bit. She's a little tinker already?

Thanks for all your responses girls, nice when others know what youre feeling. Xx

Hi doll eyes, I'm surprised your measuring small, I'm 5,1 and measuring 1 week over on my fundals, they give us 3 cm over or below before a scan. In glad your little one is active and I hope all is well with you. I think I'm just measuring a bit bigger cause my child is a lump he seems to be pretty big and I can feel him poking out a tad every now and then. But we both have small torsos and everyone is different. Keep us updated xxx

Im quite slim or i was lol so im hoping she's just very well hidden at the moment her heads now in my pelvis she was measuring fine two weeks ago, next growth scan in two weeks so will find out then if her growth is being restricted. First time i felt quite scared at hospital when they mentioned early induction if her growth is restricted so I've made a start on my hospital bag now. Think its just hitting home that im having a real little baby that im already worrying about xx

Aww Hun, you'll be fine and so will she, it hit me today I'm actually having a baby too, the nursery is done but I feel so unprepared it's silly really. Let me know how you get on xxx

Mine is a little different to yours where I was measuring spot on all threw my pregnancy & I had to have a growth scan @ 38 weeks as I wanted to transfer my care so they had to do a scan apparently, that was all fine. So can Imagine my surprise when my little boy was born that he was tiny! Quite surprised by that as all the way threw I was measuring spot on so didn't think I would have a baby that would be in tiny baby clothes which swamped him

I was measuring 2-3 weeks behind at 20 weeks, then I had a scan at 27 weeks where I was 2 weeks behind. I had another at 29 weeks and I'm still about 7-10 days behind. Baby is measuring under the 10th centile and so I'm in and out every 2 weeks for scans. I have one on Friday which will be 31 + 4, I also have a consultant appointment booked for while I'm there. if she hasn't caught up then they're talking about bringing me in for 1 more scan at 33-34 weeks and possibly inducing between 37 and 39 weeks unless she stops growing before.
She has slowly been catching up to what she should be but it's a really slow process and my bump is no where near the size it should be - I have friends who are 6-10 weeks behind me and they're all my size or bigger. My midwife knows that I'm having frequent growth scans and hasn't sent me to the hospital as of yet. They've basically said that while she's having growth spurts, she needs a big one to catch up enough for them to reduce monitoring. My consultant in Fetal Medicine said that some people just carry small babies and that first babies tend to be smaller statistically, sometimes there just isn't a medical reason for it and baby is just a small baby. They took blood from me for an infection screen which came back negative for everything, they measured my fluid and said it was fine and the checked the blood flow in the cord which they said couldn't really be better. I think she's just meant to be small and since they've checked everything that they can I'm just choosing not to worry about it, I'm sticking by the theory that I'd rather they went overboard on appointments than something important go undetected - it's just a pain going back and forth (I think I've spent a small fortune on parking!)

God i know i spent fifteen pound over two days last week at the maternity assessment unit and at women's health. This week only 3.50 lol

I was the opposite as i mentioned i measured spot on the entire way threw but he was small (to the hospital) when he was born. They did say that he would have been even smaller if he had come before or even on my due date so i guess i was glad that my son decided to come 15 days over & cook that little bit longer

I measured spot on at every midwife check and it was only when I went for a presentation scan at 37.5 weeks they realised baby was below the 5th centile and I was booked in to be induced a few days later where they then found a few undiagnosed issues. I know it must be a pain going back and fourth to the hospital all the time but at least they are keeping a check that you and baby are both healthy.

Cx

Yeah im pleased they're checking, its just the admin staff are awful, I've had to complain to the midwife unit manager about the reception staff at the assessment unit so rude and patronizing and the midwife i saw last time was so annoyed at my treatment so she's booking my appointments now or id still not have been given my scan dates. All the medical staff are lovely though xx
