I'm really thinking about becoming a stay at home mum to my LO who is now 4 months old. I'm due to go back to work from my maternity leave in December. My contract is only 20 hours but my boyfriend works night, so I'm not sure how we could work round it.

I was just wondering, what is your income for being a stay at home mum? How would I find out what I'd be entitled to? We currently get working tax credits because my boyfriend works over 24 hours, child tax credits and child benefit.

How would I find out about my source of income incase I make the decision not to go back to work?

It depends what your boyfriend earns. You would most likely be entitled to the same thing (working and child tax credits) but probably get more than you are now. I think that's all. Maybe housing benefit but I'm sure you have to be on hardly any income to get that. You can do a calculator online to see what you would be able to claim. I think it's called entitled to.

I'm a sahm and all we get is child tax credit and child benefit.

Google benefits checker and make sure it's a dwp website (think that's what it is basically make sure it's the government site or the info won't be reliable). On there it will tell you what you are entitled to and you can run through 'what if' scenarios. You will still have to apply for those benefits but it will point you in the right direction and you can download any relevant application forms too. Best of luck xx

Thanks girls.

Another option if considered was minding children in my own home as I have the qualifications.

Thanks again. :)
