Spending habits

I am finding it SO hard to change my spending habits so we can save some money for baby's room and baby's this and that.

So far this month I've been practically a saint and have only bought a few books for myself. But all those shoes and nice things I didn't use to think twice about buying for myself...... I am definitely experiencing withdrawal symptoms!


Is there a shopaholics anonymous thread anywhere?

lol i have gone the oposite, instead of buying a new braclet or top im like ''thats a tin of milk'' and at hospital car parking charges im like ''could of bought a pack of nappies with what thats cost'' im sounding like a right granny and im only 24! but have promised myself a big splurge on clothes after baby here and my bodies settled down xxxxxx

me too! i'm also planning a bit of a splurge on clothes if i can get back to the weight i want to be it will be a reward

it is a lifestyle change though. i've asked my OH for a watch for my birthday in october and its quite expensive (i'm not speaking rolex expensive - i wish!) but its a little pricey. anyway, i asked for it as it will be with me for years and will symbolise having my birthday when i was preggers. a few weeks back i felt fine about it but my OH is working so hard for money for the baby that i'm starting to think i should just get something cheap from him xx

We have figured it out that we can save about 300 a month before baby arrives....which will stay in OH's account cos I am dangerous lol. I truly think I deserve a present at least every week for carrying this baby rofl xxxxxxxxxx

Which reminds me, I feel quite guilty about our birthday presents this year, we could have done the whole nursery and then some with all that money. I want it back!

I'm not really a spender, but I don't think about what I do spend normally. Like, today I was cross that I had to put £60 of petrol in the car and then spend £20 in the supermarket. I think I'm going to have to start being spending-conscious rather than just kind of let it go over my head. Especially as I'm going to have to budget when baby comes along because we only get 3 months full pay
