Well that was kind of her I guess.
I think you did the right thing. I love animals and I always say it's the owners fault not the dog.
Children should never be left alone with a dog, not even if that dog is trustworthy.
I've got a labrador and he is the most clever and well behaved dog I have ever met, I trust him a lot but even I wouldn't trust little kids around him. My mother in laws dog is very eccentric, he scared a little girl the other day by running up to her. Then the little girl somewhat teased him because she was screaming her head off and running around like a headless chicken. Her father wasn't pleased but because these small children are almost the same size as these dogs, it excites the dog. When my dog was a puppy he used to bark at kids if they were crying, he hated the sound!
Also, kids love dogs, well most do. I recall my little sister pulling my dogs tail when she was little.
Kids are fascinated by them and when they're being stroked all over and pulled around, they can get pissed off just like any one of us would if our friends were stroking us every second and making a big fuss.
As long as your child is alright and there was no serious damage, it shouldn't be taken any further. Other than the fact the dog handling should be more watched. Her son shouldn't have taken the dog out and I'm sure she won't let it happen again. xxx
