So much to learn!!!

I dont think ur being selfish at all! Most people who i know who have had babies have been so stressed out with the constant visitors in the first few weeks - i know i will be.

I know my MIL and FIL will be coming over all the time and it annoys me that bit more because i live so far away from my family so they wont be able to drop in like OHs family will. Im hoping to get out a lot with the baby for walks etc- mostly to avoid people!! lol x

Yeah I have a room thermometer on my monitor. Yeah I'm worrying about the temp too, they do say its better for it to be cooler than warmer - I think  My downstairs is alot cooler than upstairs, its roasting up there!

didnt think of that - our monitor is in OHs van, maybe that has one on it x

I am SOOOO glad I don't have inlaws

I have the tomme tippee Ultimate sensor monitor. The one with the mat and the lights that go up. Bought it from Tiny on here, got a really good deal from her because they are about £100 to buy.

That's like me, my mum and dad live about half an hour drive away and although I know that's not far its a bit awkward when they both work full time so will only really get over on days off. I think I will just want my mums help. My MIL is very interfering, it actually panics me a bit about what she will be like. I think I will just need to learn to speak up if I'm not happy with what she's saying. Xx

my OHs brother had a baby last yr so weve got their monior, i havent even looked at it yet! Think it was an expensive one. We are so lucky to have had a lot of things from them x

My family all live in Nottingham and im in Cardiff :-( its about 3-4 hours away, im hoping theyll visit as often as possible but its a long way!

I think as new mothers we will have the right to be more understood by our in laws!! lol

10 Nappies a day? I've never needed that many.

That's great! My friends little girl is 10 months and I've been given heaps from her, really handy :)

I have the next best thing....mine live in Nigeria, lol!! Although hubby has this plan that his mum is going to come over to help us and live with us for about 6 months!! I know she is a lovely woman but 6 months??? I don't think she'll come though - she's never left the country up to now and has other grandchildren in the UK - but then again my hubby is her youngest and he is her favourite and he reckons he can persuade her to do anything!! xxx

Yikes, 6 months of live in mother in law is possibly more scary than new baby!

I've never changed a nappy either, never even held a baby any other way than me sitting on a sofa being handed it into my arms then having it taken back off me, so I'm pretty much 100% relying on common sense (oh dear!) and instinct kicking in.

Re the nappy situation - I thought they only did a few poos a day when they're little? Also, (probably stupid) but how do you know they need changing - will you be able to smell a crappy nappy? And how do you know if they've been peed in? Or do you just change regularly anyway just in case?

Apparently they do more poo's at the beginning lol. I was speaking to my mum earlier and she said change them around every feeding time and also if they have poo'd in between them. I suppose you just smell there bum.
My OH is scared he will pee on them cos soon as baby boys have there nappy off apparently the air makes them pee haha.
I've never changed a nappy and I'm 26 next month lol so my first go will be interesting. Xx

I've just realised my comment looks like I've wrote my other half is scared he will pee on baby. Hahahaha
I meant he is scared baby will pee on him. Oops xx

did u also know that a newborns first poo is black??! It says it in the book the midwife gave me - something to do with the chemicals in the womb. Glad i read it cos i would have been seriously worried if i didnt know it was normal! x

I remember when DS was born and looking at him thinking 'Oh shit, I have to keep this little thing alive! It's the most precious tamagotchi EVER!'

It really does come naturally though and like Midnight said, after a week, it'll be like you've always been doing it. I only had Reshaun four years ago and I've forgotten a lot already! I'm sure it'll come back to me though. I think my OH remembers much more than I do though!

We'll all be fine!! Xxx
