Ok so thinking about when I pack my hospital bag, I know you're supposed to take some food/ snacks for when in labour but I don't know what? How will I know what I'm gonna want? Or are there particular things that are good?

I've been packing sweets for energy but they keep getting eaten lol

My consultant told me I can bring snacks for my birthing partners but I'm not allowed to eat incase I need an emergency section so I'm not packing anything :rotfl: I got a box of fruit my DH can bring me on the kitchen side for after the birth haha!! Xx

I've gone through 2 packs of wine gums and a packet of jelly beans :D I'm gonna get some more though! Some people take fruit but personally that doesn't give me energy or fill me up!

Lol! I ate the pack of wine gums I bought, and the foamy fruits! And the digestives.. And the raisens..

Oops.

I want to take a mini freezer with me to the hospital, cause I know what i will want.. mini Freeze pops! I have about 200 in my freezer and buy another 40 everytime i go shopping cause i cant stop eatin em lol

Do they still do ice chips in hospitals? If so ill just take vimto diluting stuff or something, and put a dribble over that over ice chips and crunch away happily heh

im bringin coke n chocolatechip n nut energy bars

think i was just gonna get the go ahead bars, theyre pretty yummy! and choc eclairs by cadburys are good too (the toffee sweets) can imagine id like some of them lol x

Cool, thanks girls - looks like sweeties and muesli bar things are the way to go - and I hope they do ice chips at my hospital too!!

i took bananas and cereal bars but only managed one banana in labour, food was the last thing on my mind! It soon all got eaten afterwards tho, I was starving!

I've packed a bag of giant cadbury buttons..... Figured I could either eat them, or just suck / let them melt in my mouth. Lots of energy, very tasty, and not too filling. They told me in my antenatal classes not to eat anything too filling, as your stomache can't digest anything while your in labour. I'm also taking a couple of bottles of sports drinks, for the same reason. Really easily absorbed, and packed with energy.

Another good thing for energy and reasonably healthy...if your that way inclined is dried apricots. I have them when i have a sweet tooth and they take the urge away. Also as slow releasing, good for energy.
