Hi all!!

Just wanted to ask a quick question.

I was a smoker until just before I found out I was pregnant and then I gave up straight away. I didn't have any slips just quit and that was that. Now I have had Thomas I am craving cigarettes again!! I have been really good and not had one - yet!!!

I was just wanting to know if there is anyone else out there like me?! What did you do? I wish I was one of those people who could socially smoke and then not bother till the next time but unfortunately I'm not!!

hi M im afraid to say after months of giving up while i was pregnant i started smoking again just after having christopher i dont know why and really wished i hadnt :( im really mad with myself im only smoking odd couple a day out in the garden and im hoping when the rain comes il stop again  i try not to go near christopher for ages after im so scared the toxic fumes on my breath will harm him :( :( :(
try and stay strong hun you have done so well xxxxxxxx

Aww M - it will be really hard, I was a smoker until 2 years ago, I feel amazing now I've been quit for so long, but I kid you not it was hard to get through the cravings.

My only suggestion is to maybe hold/ sit with Teejy whenever you crave a ciggie, maybe thinking about him will help take your mind of it. Its not an easy thing to do, but maybe trying to steer your mind to him, will help?

Wishing you all the love & luck to overcome your cravings x

I gave up as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I found it really hard at first but I never gave in and stayed smoke free throughout my pregnancy. As soon as I gave birth, it was like I had to quit all over again. I know that sounds silly but when I was pregnant there was no question of me smoking but as soon as I gave birth it was like I could smoke if I wanted too.
I have to say I have relapsed a few times, mainly when I have had a drink (which isn't often!) and when my brother comes up as he smokes. About a 3 weeks ago I had one where I wasn't having a glass of wine and decided, no! I can't start again. I never went back to one every day, but I could slowly feel the cravings coming back. So I have put a stop to it now. So far so good!
My biggest mistake was having that very first puff. Its all down hill from there!

Rach: I am the same. When I have had a cigarette, I put on a hat, change my clothes and wash all over. I am too sacred to go near my son for ages and I can't stand the thought of breathing smoke all over him. I also make my brother do the same and even give him a smoking jacket.

i went through this its like you know that you can smoke again, very weird. you just have to find the will power from somewhere, you could even try nicotine patches i dont know if they would help??maybe just psychologically??
for me it lasted about a month and that was it, i still have moments now where i think mmm i could just do with a fag and then its gone, i think this is the curse of smoking
i havent had a fag since the 15th july when i found out i was pregnant and it is the best feeling knowing i wont ever smoke again. i couldnt even have one cos i would be re hooked, i loved smoking but im glad ive stopped.

aw thanks for your replies I was execting people to be quite harsh!! I agree that it like having to quit again! I find it so strange, deep down I know at some point I will have one, and like so many I think it will be when I have had a drink! I think teej is going to be the one that stops me so I might try your advice em and sit with my dude! Rach, I don't blame you at all for going out in the garden smoking, you have been through loads and sometimes it really does take the edge off things! I would hate Teej to not want to be near me because I smell of smoke so I would probably end up showering verytime I had a ciggie and that would just be a pain in the arse!! I am like you though Nathanmum, I actually really enjoyed smoking!!

I quit smoking about 4 years ago and can say I have reached the point where I don't like the smell and think the thought of smoking bizaire so in time you do get there.

A struggles to not smoke and I realoly worry he'll have a sneaky fag and then it increases the risk of cot death but I think for him it is the reverse now Dylan is here its real rather than when he was in my tummy

good luck to all of you struggling

Just wanted to ask a quick question.

Oh no, exactly the same as me and the first time I gave in and started again, this time I refuse. I found it very easy to give up with both, didn't even want one with the last until a week after I had her, now I think about it all the time.

I took up Galaxy addiction instead and eat way too much. Either fat or risk your life?

If you find something else that helps, I'd appreciate knowing too. Won't be able to get outta the house to buy Galaxy for much longer, lol.

I will definitely let you know the secret once I have found it!! At the moment leaving the house takes so long that I can't just "pop" to the shop for a packet!!!

I end up buying multipacks of Galaxy, works out half the price, lol. I had a couple of drags of my sisters fag last weekend as I was with my sons dad who I hadn't seen in over 4 years, it did my head in as I fell in love all over again. I didn't enjoy it though. Then during the week I pinched one of hers, had two drags and really hated it. It's puts me off smoking for good now, I hope. :D

awwww m hope you get through it chic. i think holding teej when you want one will deffo help.

Im luck i can social smoke, when I went out last sat I had 4 cigs (b went mad even though he smokes so I told him to f off an that he was a hypocrite an then all our mates agreed an made him feel a tw@t lol) then ivw not had another since and not wanted one either!!

sorry dont mean to rub it in pmsl

I am exactly the same!! I'm alright most the time but when we are out for a night out and I am drinking - thats when I am almost screaming for a ciggie!!
The good thing for me is that I can't pinch from anyone as I only smoked menthols and most of our mates hate them and describe it as smoking a polo!!

Hope you are coping fine!!
