my best mate is going away in a week and half so need a reply asap please,
she has a 10 1/2 month old son and would love a sling to take with her easier than buggy gonna be doing loads of hilly walks etc she was just wondering where abouts she could buy one for not to much money, and is it worth it as her son is 10 1/2 months

Ebay.. ring slings by freedom slings £19.95 haven't used mine yet but they look good and on the advert the ladies carrying a baby that looks older than your friends LO xx

If she's willing to put a little bit of time in to learn how to use it I'd really recommend a wrap (woven is probably better than stretchy at her LO's weight). It'll be really comfortable for long distances, and she can use it with him on her back (if she can master a back carry in a week and a half, I know I'm still not very good after a fortnight!). She'll be able to use it for a long time as well, it can be used with older toddlers if she wants to carry him more often.

Or an easier option is a mei tai, which can also take heavier weights and be used on the back - I think you'd probably be paying over £30 for one, but I know there are people on the forum who make them.

Other than that, freedom slings are good but probably not quite as comfortable. They're easy to use if she just wants a simple hip carry though, and you can get them on ebay for less than £20 :)

my wrap slings are one of the cheapest.. once you get used to tieing it they are amazing.. everyone always comments on ours and ask where it was from. i have had my friends 3 and half year old it teds stretch sling.. we do sell woven and they are also very comfy to waer.. i think wrap slings are great becaue they are so diverse.. 5 different holds. its definatly worth her getting one as they last till 15kgs..

Haven't used a wrap sling but saw Bee's made by Lisa and it looked fabby!

I just got my mei tai for Jack today and he is 10 1/2 months. Just been out for a walk in it and I love it! :cheer:

Im glad you posted this as im after a sling and want some advice.

I hurt my back a while ago so now have quite a weak back so want one that spreads the weight all over rather than just on one area. I would like one that would allow me to carry baby on my chest facing inwards or outwards and one that is easy to use.

Any ideas?

Ooooo glad i found this thread, i've also got a weak back and right shoulder so i'm looking for one like bloom that spreads the weight evenly and is also suitable for a 10 month old.
Do the slings that let you use them on a hip force the weight to one side or evenly distibute?
Thanks

wrap slings are amazingly comfortable my back doesnt hurt at all.. and the way the straps are over your shoulders and aback are so that they are streched out to distribute the weight.. if you wanted to have a side hold i would suggest you doing the front hold and shifting the baby over to the side as the straps are still evenly distributing the weight over your back that way.

For hilly walks she will want a carrier that goes over both shoulders so there is a lot of support - a wrap, a mei-tai or a soft structured carrier.

Personally I prefer soft structured carriers as I am a bit scared of mei tais and I find my moby wrap far too hot at the moment. There are carries you can do in a wrap that mean LO has fewer layers of fabric over her and I have ordered a calin bleu gauze wrap in the hope that it is light enough for summer wearing. I love my connecta carrier. I've bought 2 in the last month  It does front facing in and back. I have a pikkolo for when DD is big enough for front facing out but it is not as easy to adjust as the connecta.

It's definitely worth getting a carrier as she can keep carrying her LO for another year or so :D Perhaps buying second hand would be best to bring the price down a bit.

I forgot you did slings Lisa. I wonder if I can cancel the Calin Bleu order  Can you do a woven sling in a burgundy / aubergine colour?

Awww Lisa i have just been looking at your website and i like the look of the wrap slings which one do you recommend woven or not? Are they easy to master? I cant decide what colour i like :wall:

Does the black one get hot in the heat though  is it just the material thats different on the woven one? Sorry for all the questions im a novice and sorry Sarah im hijacking your thread.
