Hi all, I'm currently a size 14 and 5ft4 and according to the nurse at my GP's, my BMI is slightly over what it should be.

I'd love to get to a size 10 or even an 8, I used to be a 10 when I met hubby.

My budget is limited slightly, and so is my mobility due to a muscle problem that I have which means I cannot walk very far or stand for very long but I have an exercise bike at home, plus I can always buy the other little bits from Argos, they do cheap exercise equipment.

I've noticed that a place local to me does Slimming World every Monday night, I've never been so don't know what I'd be letting myself in for or whether it would be worth it. I'd like to lose weight fast (wouldn't we all though?) so don't want to spend a month there only to lose 1lb lol.

I've also been interested in Slimfast as I can do that at home and also do the exercise alongside it at home as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hey. I went along to Slimming World meeting yesterday for 1st time. It was recommended to me by friends who have been doing it successfully. I have 10lb to lose and I know what to do but doing it DIY was kicking it. I would lose 2lb and put it back on again and so it continued. I think personally for me I need someone to kick me up the arse and I always said I would never pay to get weighed but having been to WW before I know that motivation of standing on scales every week does work. The reason I didn't go back to WW was that I seemed to be living on vegetable stir fries and as my hubby doesn't eat vegetables we always ended up eating different stuff. After going to SW yesterday I made the same meal for me and hubby the only difference being I had additional vegetables on my plate and I made SW chips for me and ordinary oven chips for him. I can honestly say there was so much food on my plate and every mouthful was "FREE". I would rather go down the route of SW as opposed to Slimfast - healthy eating option as opposed to meal replacement shakes. Healthy eating wins hands down.

Good luck on whatever route you decide to go down. xxxx

Thanks, I agree and didn't actually think about the motivation to lose weight being in the weekly weigh in! :dohh: I'm going to look the group up online.

I was going to go after bubs is born as want to slim down before we have baby no 2. I need to loose a lot of weight tho I think I need to loose about 3 stone. But I have appointed hubbie as my group leader who has to tell me off etc!!
Saves the money tbh!!

I've tried to get hubby to be in charge loads of times but he works long hours so I'm mostly on my own so I end up failing miserably and I feel like I need to have someone who can advise me on healthy eating plans so I can budget and buy the right things. The thing is though I don't actually eat that much... It's just the fact I can't exercise very much. I also think being in a group will be helpful too.

I've just got an iphone so will have a look at some of the apps and see if there's anything good on there as well. x x

have you tried swimming? would re-leave all pressure of off your muscles but still work them really well! it's also good as it's a full body work out! most local sports centres with a pool do cheap pool only memberships, my local one does it for £18 per month with no fixed term contract! compared to £75 per week for local members only gym/pool!!!!!!

also where about in Kent are you??? i could always come kick you up the bum!!! lol!!!
