Hi ladies,

My 5.5 months cried and wakes up every time he rolls from back to front in his sleep. It looks like he just can't get comfortable.

I don't know what to do. Poor little pumpkin.

Anyone else had experience with this? I wonder whether it's just because it's a new skill, or are we doomed???

He spent the first three months of his life sleeping on his front on my (or his dad's) chest. I couldn't wait for him to roll as was hoping he's sleep better in the night. No such luck.

Thanks x

Alfie was the same at that age when he realised he could roll over and he was comfiest on his tummy. He soon got used to it and within a week it wouldn't bother him and he stopped waking in the night. Now he can roll over from front to back and vice versa so it's easier for him to get comfy.

In the meantime, you may just have to keep flipping him back over when he wakes until he learns which position is most comfy. It may be that he's trying to sleep on his side but keeps rolling over onto his front x

Yep I'm having the same problem here! I think it's a phase due to the new skill though I know that when I was a baby I chose to sleep on my front.

My LO has been on his front, at the top end of his cot and with his baby grow poppers undone every morning!x

Try laying him on his side with his knees tucked up and his head tilted back. My baby is a side sleeper and used to only want to sleep on in the frog position on our chests until he was about 6 weeks old. Then he was very difficult to put down until I tried him on his side when I started nursing lying down.

Thank you all.

TTT, that's how I usually leave him (minus head tilted back). He rolls onto his back, and then onto his front!

Has been like this for a couple of weeks. I am hoping it will pass soon...

My six month old isn't really doing this in the night, he kinda bum shuffles down his cot instead. But he does get upset when he rolls from front to back in the day. His wee face looks like he's had a big shock and is confused as hell about what just happened! Back to front, he's usually ok. It might just be a bit confusing for him and once he works out how to get comfy he will settle again.
